    • Some problems come and go but there's one that seems to always be there for me. Paranoia, I always feel like something bad is gonna happen to me. Whenever I see a dark cloud I imagine a huge storm coming, whenever I'm on the interenet I HAVE to check cnn news because I'm always worrying about death. It's like I subconciously know that I'm gonna die tomorrow. I don't want to have to get on medication if I need to but I definitely feel like this has been really bothersome having this "habit" of mine. I never have enough ambition to get up and do much more than nothing cause I feel like it's not worth doing cause it won't pay off mainly because I don't think it'll last that long. There are good things I could add to this but I'll just throw all that in a blog. This discussion is just about paranoia and how to get over it.

    • Heya Smurf,

I'm sure that level of paranoia can be debilitating. Have you ever been evaluated for obsessive compulsive disorder? One of the behaviors that is often associated with OCD are doomsday thoughts. It's not the same as paranoia, more of a focus on specific things that could be wrong. Did I leave the iron on? I left it on! My house has burned down! Am I going to get into a wreck when I drive to work? I am! Oh my god, what will happen to my family? etc. Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there.

Smurf, any one of us can walk out our door tomorrow and get hit by a bus or some freak thing happen. Heck you never know when you one day may have an electrical problem in your own house and blow up.  If you just never make the effort to take chances and have a good life you'll become so isolated. Some times you have to take chances to see life can be pretty good then you won't think of those bad thoughts once your mind is into something else. I worry a lot myself about things, I'm always thinking ahead, and about what if this and that. Then I end up driving myself crazy. Like before I say it I'll already wonder what some ones come back will be. I ask people some times if they are mad and it drives them crazy. So some times when I stop worrying and just chill things run simple. Have you ever sought counseling, maybe medication wouldn't be so bad, sounds like your depressed too. I think if you liked yourself more maybe you'd see things on the positive side and not so negative. Maybe just when you start thinking like this, tell your head to shut up and think about some thing positive in your life.

    • One simple intervention that I use is to think about what's really the worst that could happen if something you are worried about did occur...I konw it seems to be the REVERSE of what you'd do but many times what you are worrying about wouldn't really be the END of the world...also it can give you insight into what is really bothering you.....these little things can help but it's always better to have someone to really talk to about it so you can live your life to the fullest-the way you deserve!
