why do you need my physical address to join - there is no way that should be of any need.

I never provided my address and it wasn't a problem.

I gave a generalized address. just my street name with no number, put in "Upper Peninsula of Michigan" for the city and gave a fake zip code. I had to fill in those spaces in order to join, but it's nobody's business what my exact address is.

Really? I did not see this as a requirement to join, so I didn't have to give ANY kind of address, city, state, nothing. Not even Planet Earth.
Hmm... maybe I'm talking to myself again and I'm not REALLY here?

Yes, when I was filling out my profile last year and updating it just recently, I had to give my address. This was in the "Contact Info" section of my profile. I just tried it again and I got an error message that says a street address is required. I have a feeling I should not have said that I put a fake address down in my contact info!!!! Just wanted to be helpful.
Maybe I misunderstood the question?

Okay, so you are saying the request for your addy was in the profile portion? Maybe this is why I didn't have to give one, I haven't filled out the profile yet. (I wanted to lurk around for a bit first.) If so, then it makes sense.
My question now is, WHO has access to that information?
Posted on: Fri, Apr 25 2008 3:35 AM
Good question. I wonder who has access to our info. That is exactly why I put in fake stuff. Here I go again, I hope no one in the higher-ups or administration reads this! No lurking Shimas! Come on in, the water's fine, Lurking has a creepy tone to it! It's a great place to be. It's very cathartic to post blogs and discussions. Hope to see you around. Put the fake stuff in bbattig!
