Very disappointing! This whole Disaboom site has turned into a big commercial for profit forum in my opinion. Now here is 2 people making T-Shirts. They get $2 for every T-Shirt sold yet they can't pay for ideas. Don't pay for ideas but donate something to a good non-profit organization that actually helps amputees. What is your amputation? Why are you here? Are you an amputee? No?! Then why are you splash posting in an amputee forum? You have nothing to offer here. The very owner of this site "J.W. Roth" has sent out a solicitation to Disaboom members to sell advertising for the site. He/she won't reply to my questions and concerns. Bogus! Out for a buck! Taking advantage of other people's misfortunes to make a buck! This is all my personal opinion of course. The original purpose for this site was for people with disabilities to have a place to meet and interact with like disabled folks. Yes that still happens only after you sift through the scams and commercials for profit and B.S. you can still find some real people with real intentions. Radical? Me? Nope, but I will make a stand for what I believe in. I hope somebody montitors these posts and get's word to J.W. that Crockett would like a word. As for "Hadley" here. Your post asking for T-Shirt ideas is a bold attempt. About as suttle as "send money" nothing in return except you will mention donors name. BIG DEAL! If you are not an amputee, and you print T's about amputees and profit from the sales and not one penny of the sales proceeds go to an amputee organization that truely helps amputees. Asking for "free" support in a financially tied up world is one thing, boldly exploiting ideas another. I am an amputee and it distresses me. Yet, I still possess my pitch black cynical humor and I still master graphical computer tools. So, I have my own CAFEPRESS shop, and if you missed that, it may be time for you to properly take offense right now. No one is forced or urged to buy anything and as a matter of fact I mainly run it so I can get my own stuff printed. There is not much money to be made with this as - believe it or not - wearing such slogans is temporary RELIEF for me - - - but only of very, very limited scope. There is not the slightest requirement for anyone to buy any of these and if you print your own stuff, even if you copy my ideas, I'm the very last person to have a problem with it. If you buy my shit it does help an amputee - me :-) :-) and so, thank you very much. There is no requirement whatsoever to wear tasteless, proud or cocky slogans so I do NOT understand why you see anyone "taking advantage". If you explain to me why anyone would be coerced, forced, pushed to buying such stuff, we can come to an understanding of your "exploit" idea - but until you have laid that down I entirely fail to see your point. - Wolf. 

 

Crockett I am going to come right out and say what needs to be said. I think your comments are very bitter and selfish. If you have noticed money was tough for many people even before the price of gas started soaring. Though I am not disabled (I'll get back to that later in this post) I know there are often huge expenses that come with being disabled. Buying limbs and having them replaced and/or repaired, socks, special vehicles for some and many other issues. Should people give to organizations to help others, YES. Do you know that the 2 selling t-shirts are not giving something even if it is in their own neighborhood, NO. Even if they are not giving maybe they NEED the money for themselves. Maybe they only have a meager job. What do you know about them. I commend them for having the creativity and guts to take something that sends most people into despair and turning it into something positive. As far as J.W. Roth is concerned; It takes money and advertising to keep any business open. Just by you being able to post your negative you have already benefitted from the service he is providing although I would say not too many people benefitted from reading your post. As I said about myself; I am not disabled. My fiance is. I met her while traveling in a foreign country we talked and continued to email, write letter and phone each other. Late last year I went to meet her family and get engaged. We will be married here in a few months. She lost both arms above the elbows to a drunk driver and poor medical practices. I do not love her because she does not have arms. I love her because of what she does without arms. She can take care of others but has never learned to care of herself and has a care taker who never learned to read and write. Though her care taker is merely a servant or maid (employee) for my fiance. My fiance has taken it upon herself to teach her care taker to read and write so that when she comes to America and can not bring her care taker, she will be able to find a better job. Tell me how many employers think that way or take personal time to do these things for their employees. She cares for her nieces and nephews when needed and helps to manage her fathers store. My fiance is far from rich. When we were together I was humbled when she gave money I had given her so could buy some much needed things to another disabled on the street and did not ask me for more money to replace it. Yes, I still bought her the things she needed. I have never heard her complain about her disability and her friends back this up. Before you talk about what others give ask yourself what you give. I am here to seek advise in regards to my fiance so that I can provide her with the best home and life as possible. I have found that I have actually been able to give a little advice on this forum and will continue to do so when I feel I have something that will help others. It is because of people like you that I do not post more often. Narrow minded people who like to flame people on forums before seeing the big picture. Rather than being bitter. Learn from these people. If they are wrong then do something positive. Ranting doesn't help anything. For anyone else who reads this, I could still use a whole lot of advise for my fiance.

Can we not all please just help each other whether it be ideas for slogans on t-shirts (which I have found amusing) or what ever and stop all the - "you aint disabled" etc, sounds like a bit of discrimination, if someone who was disabled left a message somewhere and the reply was "you have a disablility, why you posting here" there would be uproar.  Nowt else to say, Jill x
