    • Hi Bruce,

thank you.Congradulations on giving  up the chair.

      You too are blessed!

I am so strong,,,,, and give up is not in my vocabulary ha, at all!

I am suposed to use my cane when walking, however, I rarely do,  unless the ground is uneven, rocky or wet. I call these type of endeavors "my stupid animal tricks" lol.  My chair was also electric. If I do shopping now, I just use a shopping cart. Can't win any races, however, but it sure feels good, you know.

      Thanks again for the welcome.

    • Anonymous ........ha ha Now, why so secreative? Afraid you'll become forever etched in our minds also?   ha ha.

Afraid if we know who you are, we'll learn something?.....lol

Hey, thanks guy. You..... are a guy, right? I can feel it, you know. I too get by in life with laughter. Music and laughter. Some ask, after my having a stroke: after being thrown out of my home of 12 years, after losing the love of my life to a heart attack recently......"how can you be happy"? I tell them, "I laugh to keep from crying". I don't know, it doesn't really take a lot of effort. I guess I have a happy soul. Don't know what I'd do if I didn't.  I feel fine. Gets lonly sometimes but I can't really complain cause I am so blessed. You seem to have a happy soul also. That's awsome. Keep up the good work. yep, it's just another chapter in our lives. Anyway, give me a hello sometimes.

I am also a survivor of a stoke, anyrism, cyrbral hemmorage and an embolism. That comes along with TBI of course.  I have retired the wheelchair and diapers! It took 1.5 years but it did finally happen that I retired them.  The other day some lady started yelling at me over my handicapped sticker at the local store.  She started screaming "It is because of people like you who abuse the system that our taxes are so high! You look perfect normal! You lazy witch, park in the regular parking spots!" she yelled. She of course didnt use the word witch. All over a parking space! I was horrified, and really just turned away from her and ignored her screaming this stuff in the convience store. I was so embarassed. I couldn't wait to get home!

Good for you! I also am a survior, and and currently doing the nero pt and speech. My left side is really weak, but functionable, and recently they had suggested a brace.  Is this to stabilize the ankle and foot or is it for balance?

    • Hi annie,

yes the brace stabalizes my ankle and foot on my weak side. The thing went from inside my shoe (under foot) to my knee. After wearing it a year, that way, my boyfriend, who is now passed, cut it down for me! so that it would come up to just above the ankle. The doctor recently fitted me with a new one but I wear the shortened version. Like you, too active for all that plastic.....lol. Hey, you really handled that parking issue well. There are more of us disabled people in the world these days and we stick together! These folks better start watching themselves! Ha Ha
