    •  housing--i don't know about where you live, but in michigan there is very little or no waiting list for subsidized housing in rural areas.organizations like advocacy grps, catholic social services, churches, missions, can help, also.call a NAMI group in your area--national alliance for the mentally ill--they can help point you in the right directions to assist you with your various needs

    • Sorry I can't offer you any advice on housing or your situation.

What I can offer you is advice that might help in future situations - get yourself a medical alert bracelet. They are cheap. Have it put on there that you are bi-polar and have severe depression, medications, etc. That way, the next time there's a problem, EMS will KNOW that okay, maybe this is a medical/medication issue. Just like many diabetics have them so if they have an episiode, EMS will know they are a diabetic and it might be a medical issue and they're not simply drunk/on drugs, etc.

Good luck with the rest of it. Sorry your family is being a pain.

    • I'd like to sincerely thank you for your response.  I never thought of that!  Duh!  EMS just seems to somehow "look up" my "record", and I overheard them saying I had been 5150'd before, so they were wondering if they needed to take it to that level.  So, now, instead of helping me through, accesing a new situation, etc.... they start to question and wonder if they should be commiting me to a hospital.

I can understand the concern for safety and well being, but it's so frustrating.  Thanks again for your advice!

    • LOL!  You are just asking for more drama, heheheheh.  Your post just really goes to show that this is a serious illness, and is not controlable all of the time, and is not some vain attempt for attention, etc.

    • Hi Luscious, I would say it will continue to be amazing to you when the people closest to you don't have a clue about how to help you. It may sound hard, but don't count on family for emotional support. Where family fails, friends are often better to talk to. Unfortunately, there is still a great stigma to having depression or anxiety or a mental illness as compared to almost any other condition a person may face. Medication, is a short term solution at best to what might be a lifetime problem, so you have to be realistic and also kind to yourself during this time. When outwardly you look ok, people do judge and can never understand the kind of pain you have to endure. Try to find a good counselor, you need to have a anchor for the stuff that is happening while you have the "tunnel vision" of depression and or anxiety attacks. Psychiatrists in my opinion are not worth much, if one does not work or you have a negative bond with one get rid of that one and try another or a nurse with prescriptive authority if that is a alternative. Try to have faith it will get better with alittle persistence.
