I live in Upstate Ny and was diagnosed in 1993. I would like to here from others with CMT. I am still able to walk (now with a cane & knee brace) although I have have many falls which caused other injuries. Fell in November-dislocated my left knee-a replacement is in my future. Also am schedueld for heart surgery in July. I try to maintain a possitive outlook. It does get hard sometimes. I love the beach-Jersey Shore-Cape Cod & Salem Ma.
Hi, I too have CMT, I was diagnozed when I was 15 and I am now 46, it has never been determines which type I have. Are you a member of CMTUS?

HEY SUG, I HAVE CMT IN MY FAMILY TOO. I HAVE DUCHENNES YEA SUCKS TO BE ME. BUT WE ALWAYS HAVE TO LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE YOU KNOW. ITS GOOD THEY CAUGHT WHAT EVER THEY HAVE TO DO TO YOUR HEART NOW. I HOPE ITS NOT TO INVASIVE ON YOU. COOL THAT YOU CAN STILL WALK BALLANCE IS A HARD ONE ISN'T IT.
I USE THE CANE EVEN ON A GOOD DAY JUST BECAUSE FALLING IS SO DANGEROUS.
YOUR LEGG BRACE IS IT THE VELCRO ONE OR THE MEDAL ONE? I LIKE THE BELCRO ONE THEY CAN COME OFF EASY AND ARN'T SO HEAVY.
