I find that when I'm stressed or having a fibro flar that I get these really bad heaaches
that cause my eyes to hurt and my ears to ring, I can feel my own pause where the head metss the neck
I take ultram and fexaler put it doesn't help use moist heat as well, the last for a few days at a time.
Dose anyone have any other ideals that I can try? e me at beckostrives@aol
The key to not having headaches is to get rid of thoughts about pain. Get your mind off it and really concentrate on something else where you can stay absorbed for a long time. Hearing your pulse in your ear is entirely normal. I get it all the time and while it's irratating, it's not doing any harm. I use a muscle relaxer every night because if I don't, I wake up with a bomb shell of a headache. When I have a flare-up, I go to bed and sleep it off. I may still feel like I have a flare-up hangover for the next week but getting rid of the pain is primary.
You also might want to check the other stressors in your life. What you can't change, deliberately put it on the back burner of your mind. What you can change; do!
Sometimes it takes years to learn how to avoid the worst of the pain but you can do it with long hours practicing taking your mind off the pain and onto something that really interests you. When you succeed, the pain goes on the back burner and your interest is in the forefront of your mind. Granted, it isn't easy and it depends on what your stressors are and how you deal with them.
It is my personal opinion that all of us should take behavioral classes to see where we can improve in our fight with Fibromyalgia.

Check and see if you are clenching your teeth. Also, check for congestion due to allergies or sinus. For me those two things that will contribute to a flare up .
I don't have fibro, ( I am a stroke survivor) but I can relate to headaches and my ears ring at times too. I have post nasal drip (since the strokes) and my Drs can't seem to cure it. I think allergies are causing a lot of my problems.
Headaches are the worst kind of suffering for me. I absolutely hate them! I would rather have my other aches and pains any day!
I found that when I quit using aspartame I had fewer headaches. Also, for the first few years that I had fibro, I'd get these horrid sick headaches where I had to stay in bed all day, only getting up to vomit every so often. Those have disappeared now thank God! I believe they were probably mostly caused by menopausal hormonal changes. I also quit smoking which probably helped.
I wish you the best luck in finding a solution.

beck1966 im sorry you have such painful headaches thats awful, especialy when you cant find any relief. Iknow just focusing on something else instead of the pain in your head is the last thing i would want to hear when i have those bad headaches! my doctor perscribed me a drug called imitrex and it sure did help its not for everyone but its sure worth looking in to .i hope this information helped, theres nothing worse than one of those headaches. take care Wendy
Hey, Beck!
I get migraine headaches that also cause my eyes to hurt and I will throw up if I don't get my meds into me soon enough after one starts. Ask your doctor if you could be getting migraines, as there are lots of new meds on the market now, like Imitrex, that can help you a lot with these. The trick is to take the meds as soon as you feel one of those headaches starting up. If you take the meds too late, they may not work.
Also, I had to look very closely at my diet, as there are certain foods that can cause migraines in some people. It's to remember what you have eaten before you get one and then make note of it and see if you continue to get headaches after eating that same thing again. For me, garlic and raw onions are the main culprits, but for others it can also be: chocolate, msg, red kidney beans, and a whole list of other things. See if your dr has a list of possible triggers for migraine. I can also get migraines from changes in the weather. I watch the barometer very carefully, as that is what seems to cause the headaches, when the barometer shifts from up to down or vice versa too quickly. If your'e living in a high-altitude area, that can also cause them. It took me 10 years of noticing when I got the headaches to figure out what all my triggers are, which include exposure to the sun or sometimes severe cold. I now wear a big hat whenever I'm out in the sun and bundle up really well when it's cold.
Hope that helps and that you figure out the source of these headaches. I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy, I know how much you are suffering with them. Hang in there and try to get a diagnosis for them as soon as you can.
Gentle Hugs,Maggie
Lots of good advice here. For me, I take Neurontin and that takes them right away. It also makes Ultram hit your brain faster so I'm told. It works for me at least.
Sorry to hear about your suffering. Be careful of eye strain too. See an eye doctor if the pain is face first. Also be aware of sinus headaches. Neurontin helps with headaches from the back of your head. I get them all since I am special. So I have to treat what is going wrong according to what part of my head is pounding at the time.
Hi I am new to group.. just joined today..was reading up on Fibro and headaches because i have been having head pain on my right side only.. went to primary physician who thought it was migraines.. i then went to a specialist who said i was having fibromyalgic headaches.. however no true diagnosis of Fibro.. trying to get in to see neurologist to get diagnosis if thats what it is.. the headaches have been going on now over a month..every day..
I typically wake up early because i cant lay more then 4 hours at a time.. my pain level is unbearable first thing in the morning.. expecially with the neck and back and headaches..
Has anyone else had these problems.. i am looking for some input on this and some advice..
