BeachGoer1: Hi Christie and thanks for your response. I'm sorry that you are suffering Insomnia like me as i've been having this off and on over the last several months as i'm just starting to get down about not working anymore and intermingling with co workers and friends i once knew. How long have you've been having this and do you cycle the sleep aides?? Well just remember that if you can't sleep that there are others like us so although i would never wish this on anyone it helps to know your not the only one dealing with this if you catch my drift. Take care !!!

BeachGoer1: Right on about Melbourne Joe.....and the P3's as i remember them are the planes with the radar disk on top of them. Although decommissioned now i was on the USS Sampson DDG-10 a guided missle destroyer as we got to go all around to places like Europe and Karachi, Pakistan but my favorate place was St.Croix Virgin Islands.

I was stationed with my ex husband (sk1) at NAS Whidbey a few years back. I remember the P3's did everything in their power to keep me from sleeping when i was pregnant... they would attempt their low flying manuvers in the feild behind our house. ugh. I'm so glad i'm not living there anymore! lol
Good idea about the Rum Joe . I remembered when we stopped at Puerto Rico how all we heard about was the famous Rum there as we all had to try it of course. Sadly a few were also trying the ''Shrooms'' there were making them have hallucinating trips like taking Acid (LSD).
Anyway thanks again to all who replied as again i really do appreciate it. I actually slept better last night as i just turned on the fan which gave some background noise and eventually dozed off. Also i just realised that i drink way too much Green Tea all day long as that could be keeping me awake also. So i'm gonna stop drinking it and see what happens as an experiment and lasty eating sweets/junk food doesn't help either as i'm back to eating decient so we'll see what happens.
Again thanks to everyone here and best to all !!!!
Thanks for the pointer on Alcohol Tachie.... as alcohol is off limits for me because of my Autoimmune disease although i can relate to what Joe is getting at.

Curious: why is alcohol off limits for you because of an AI disease?

Have you talked to your Doctor about Melatonin, My doc told me to get some which i haven't yet at least till I get paid.
I've been suffering for 10 years Getting or staying asleep, I've even gone a week and a half without, when I get tired I just collaspe and sleep a good 8 hours then It repeats Itself getting an hour here and a few more there!!!
Oh my goodness!!! I thought I was alone in this dilemma! I sleep about 1-3 hours every 24 to 36 and sleep for about 16 hours and the cycle continues. Recently it has gotten worse, where I will only sleep 1-3 hours a night for 4 or 5 nights and then sleep about 14-16 hours. I stress more about not sleeping than anything else. I have started counseling sessions to see if that will help and I also wonder what effectr menopause may be having on all this. I can't take a sleeping pill because I miss my catheter time and end up changing sheets and clothes in the middle of the night and then I stress over that!! I would love to know if anyone comes up with a good remedy!!

Hi Carol and Olivette and thanks for your thoughts on the thread. I know why at times i have insomnia as it's because of the depression of having a disease paralysing my feet and being alone at home all day with no relatives and friends have disappeared as i have to figure out how to keep my time occupied.
I am going to start a thread in the lifestyle forums soon about things to do when at home alone and no family or friends as i'm curious what others do as sometimes i'm going ''bomkers'' just watching tv. I really do appreciate the internet as its been a godsend. Anyway i know we all on here have these issues to deal with and not just me and agin i appreciate everyones input. I will start posting more on here on other forums as i have different ??'s as i value everyone's thoughts here on Disaboom.

Ever thought of training your own service dog? It'd give you a great reason to wake up and smell the roses every morning... with lots of positive attention from a new dog! Before long you'd have a trusted companion that would be happy to help you at every turn as well.
