    • Hi everyone. It is nice to have a place where I can discuss certain things some.  I was diagnosed in Oct. 07 with COPD. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.  Pretty scary when you dont breathe so well. I also have been bipolar for years.  I am attempting to get disability. I always heard it was a long and aggrevating process. And it sure is for real.  I have been denied twice and now going for another appeal.  I filed in the beginning on my own, but have since hired an attorney.  I have a few other disorders as well.  Anxiety Disorder, OCD and post traumatic stress syndrome.  Sounds like I am a mess huh?  Lol    With all these things going on with me, I am amazed that SSA keeps denying me.  I figure I am still in for a long road battling for disability. Next go around is before administrative judge and I understand that can take a long time.  Two months ago, I developed high blood pressure as well.  Probably from the stress of dealing with this government agency.  Lol again. I try to keep my spirits up with a little sense of humor. I have filled out so many reports with SSA and tried to be very honest with them. I tell them one thing in my reports and they come back telling me different in their denials.  I guess that what frustrates me the most.  They dont know me or how I am feeling physically or mentally.  I know a lot of people know what i mean about SSA. Just wanted to get this off my chest some.  Thanks for listening to me moan and groan a little.

    •  They denied me four times, even after I had to go into a wheelchair. When I FINALLY got through to the right person who'd listen, it went through very fast. What I was told was, they always refuse you, no matter how bad you are, until either a lawyer contacts them, or someone who's high enough up (and forget it if you think their doctor will approve you because he saw you... their doctor saw me walk six feet with TWO canes and then denied me, stating I could stand on my feet for 6-8 hours a day!) is there at the office.

You said you have an attorney now. He'll help, SSI is scared of lawyers. Good luck!

    • Thank you for your reply.  I am very glad you finally won your disability.  The disability process is pure crazy. I already saw their doctors. And it was a joke.  I probably be on oxygen by the time I get approved.  I though am going to fight disability all the way on my claim.  I hope having a lawyer does scare them.  You take care and once again thank you.

You are more than welcome Robbie. Like you, I was shocked at how long and how much bull they put me through. I'd already had five spinal surgeries before I applied. You are so right about their doctors being a joke, I could NOT believe that their doc looked at all those medical records, saw me walk a full six feet with the aid of two canes and decide I could go back to retail work! (Not to mention I was full-up on pain medication at the time too... who do you know that'll hire someone who takes opiates for pain?) I swear I think they are paid to deny people.... you know, get a bonus if they can say with a straight face, "Naw, you aint disabled! You can work!" It wouldn't surprise me, since insurance companies have done it for years.

And the layers don't scare them in a bad way... but they do let SSA know you are not going away anytime soon, so it's in their best interest to really decide in your favor.

Good luck, I gotcha in my prayers.
