    • Does anyone know of a procedure in which they inject fat between herniated disks? A friend told me he had a procedure done 20 years ago and he never had another problem. Lord, there has to be something. I've even asked a surgeon if they couldn't put plastic between the disks but he said that would be fruitless, it wouldn't last. My back injuries have turned into degenerative arthritis of the lower lumbar and cervical spine so I don't know if they'd even consider that type of procedure. The disks must be grinding on one another. I can't tolerate this pain anymore and I don't want to take anymore pills. Cotisone injections don't do much for me. I refuse surgery unless it's a last resort. I walked over the hill to my son and daughter-in-laws to take my grandson home. He was in a stroller so I didn't have to carry him. It's about a tenth of a mile and I had to stop 3 times to bend over to relieve some of the pain. Usually I can stretch my spine to release pressure but it didn't seem to help. I'm going to go to a bone specialist, had a brain fart so I can't remember the correct name. I'm going to beg him to prescribe an electric mobility scooter. I can hardly stand for 5 minutes without severe pain but I can sit down or use my walker with a seat to do things like cooking or cleaning. If you have any ideas would you please let me know? The doctor's specialty is orthopedist. I just thought of it. LOL Keep smiling, laugh a little, and joke with others, I try to remind myself. Best thing I know to do is MAKE it a great day.

    • Since you have contact with the person who had this procedure, ask if it has a specific name. You can get alot of info at medscape if you just register for a account. The only other possibility that I am wondering is whether it was a animal product or synthetic as that might provide some direction where to look. There are also many medical magazines that fall under the scientific journal Nature. If you find a abstract online you can either buy the full article or see if a local library will be able to get a full copy.

    • Fat injections sound plausible.  I have read that what lubricates the disks is collagen which is comprised of Vitamin C.  And I have read that they have helped arthritics with injections of Vitamin C. Supposedly taking people out of wheelchairs with it.  I had interest in this since my grandmother, mother and sister all ended up in wheelchairs due to arthritis...a sleepy driver put me in one ahead of my time.  But at least I won't suffer the pain now?

    •  Thank you ChazzB. That gives me some places to start looking. Sorry I can't reach the person who told me about the procedure. He told me all he knew at the time. I thought I might check the Atlanta area for a back pain clinic too. They may have more up to date information than Chattanooga. What do you think?

    • Hi, I found this reference about Chymopapain Disk-Injection Therapy. It's a form of latex.

This is a more generic article from the NY Times.

I hope it helps you out, a google search will get you a bunch of results including x-ray pictures.Big Smile
