    • Hi, I'm just looking for support and sympathy for trying to lose some extra weight I really don't need to be carrying around.  My son and I are walking the track on my good days, so hopefully I will lose a good 20lbs this Spring/Summer.  I've done it before so I must push on once again.

So here is to all of you out there trying to take advantage of the better weather.  I better get out there now, time goes by so quickly.  It is easier when we have more daylight for me.  Good luck everyone!

    • Sounds great. I too am trying to loose some wieght. Unfortuantely the meds we take to combat fibro also packs on the pounds!!!

I am doing a water class at the therapy pool and will try to work other excecises in.

Its hard we are sore if we do, sore if we don't. tired if we do, tired if we don't.

Let's make sure we check in on each other to keep each other motivated!!!!

    •  Thank you for the encourgement, I really need it.

I went out, walked a mile and half around the track.  My youngest Son made Breakfast and Dinner but we don't eat too much.  I made a simple soup so that will last me a couple of days too.

I have been drinking more tea and trying to skip milk, that's tough but I want to see if I stop drinking milk and  not using it in my recipes if that will help some.  I have cut back drastically on tomatoes so I'm feeling the pain of missing my comfort foods.

If I can just stick to going out walking at least four days a week I know that will do the trick.  I know, my meds make me hungry all of the time.  I was having a terrible bout with insomnia too so that meant I would get hungry late at night or early in the morning.

I really appreciate any and all support anyone can offer.  I just have to lose this weight. I know I get kind of depressed when clothes I like to regularly wear get too tight.  Ever since I was told I had Lupus and I must stay out of the sun unless I have ton of sunscreen and a hat, I have been sort of discouraged.  I was a sun worshipper, growing up here in California.  Now, I have to shun it as if it was something evil or whatever.  I know silly but you adapt.

I found a display in San Francisco for a hat store.  I don't have the best face for hats.  Some just look terrible on me.  Then some I really like, I leave behind.  I should put a phone number in them Confused

Of all the things I miss the most it was my mind that I miss the most!  Ah well,

I will try to post here regularly for anyone else who feels they need a little encouragement to get out there in the wild blue to work off this extra baggage.  Sean, my youngest , would make faces when I exercised at home.  That didn't help.  Now he has to get into shape so he can get through bootcamp for the Navy so, he is doing sit-ups, so now Mom can do her silly knee bends and leg lifts without his wise remarks.

Well good luck!  Walking always does the trick for me.  I miss being able to run so much but at least we can walk still.  I am grateful for what I still can do.  I'm looking forward to the rest of you giving me a good report here.  I have to wear a bathsuit in July so I better get busy.

         Take good care everyone.

    •    I have some of those too.  They aren't too bad. Only on my thighs, which is strange but so it goes. Now we have a good variety of swimsuits to wear so that I hope is a little encouraging.

Dieting isn't fun for me but a necessary evil. If I could only afford to have my own cook.  It is just that it is so painful to exercise.  That makes it so discouraging.  I use to love it but knowing it causes more pain makes it more difficult.  Though it works so I will and thank you for your support.

    •  It's not dieting that's the problem, it's finding time to excerise.  I've lost 20 lbs so far this year and hope to lose another 20 before the summer is over with.  It can be hard though, can't it?  I wish you all the luck. Big Smile

Please share your strategy and weight loss plan. This is great motivation for me.

    •  That's great Angel!  It is very encouraging.  I have lost 4lbs so far this week. Now because of blisters on my ankles, I'm am not wearing my running shoes. It takes so long for us to heal now.

Usually, stuff like mole skin, you can sometimes find it in the Dr. Scholls section of your Pharmacy helps prevent this but I think it moved or my ankles are just being a pain.  I was told over time, Relafen will make my skin thinner?  Not sure but in time, it will get better.

I would like to hear what Angel is doing too?  Most diets work, if you find one that best fits the food you like to eat.  It bothers me to take pain pills so I can exercise but I am pacing myself the best that I can. I never recommend diet pills because unless you want to take them for the rest of your life, what good are they?  I don't even recommend stapling but I'm not a doctor either.  I just have seen many who have done it, re-gain the weight because they aren't exercising enough or changing their diet. That is a personal choice though so everyone has to figure out what is best for them.

The Iron Chef just came out with a new cookbook to help you lose weight and eat good.  He was over 300lbs and has lost a good amt. of weight.  Ha!  When you lose all of your excess baggage, write a book about it!  I haven't looked for it yet.  I am also eating less bread.  It is difficult for those of us on medication in the morning that you have to eat with food.  What I am doing now?   Now we have flavored water which is nice for those of us who don't like tap water.  I just check for sugar or corn syrup.  Corn syrup is one of the worse. I'm drinking Constant Comment and Green Tea because I can stand them without sugar.

I like some of the recipes in my Weight Watchers cookbook.  It goes by what is in season, so that helps you save some money too.  Though it isn't my main cookbook.  I just tried to cut a lot of fat out of my familiar recipes. I'm not eating as much fried food either. I can use broth or water instead of oil in many things I cook too and that saves some calories as well.  I still use butter, which may be a sin but at least it isn't too processed and I don't have to use very much.    Now, we can buy vegetables cut up and that helps me some.  Carrots are my favorite snack food and kids tend to like them too if they are already cut up.  I should eat more celery and peanut butter instead of bread.  My only trouble with celery is that it goes bad quickly.  I now freeze cut celery for my soups and that helps me waste less.

          Good luck everyone.
