Hi there everyone. Hope you are all well today. Having lots of fun having discovered the site only yesterday. I am Dawn, 38 yrs old, mother of 4 girls and a bi-lateral AKA. I have been both a single and double BKA over the past 10 yrs and hopefully its all finished now!
Having been through the mill in my personal life somewhat to say the least I would simply love to make some new friends and not feel quite so 'Billy No Mates'!!!! Where I live, disabled folk are limited and it does prove a little exasperating to constantly have people glare at you. Normally I like to use the opportunity to teach people to be more accepting and a little less ignorant!
I have a very cheeky side and love to laugh. I have the usual ability to be quite likeable and indeed all this has taught me that I AM a likeable person!!! There, have it!
Will be interested in any communication from anyone.
God bless everyone, we have a beautiful 'club'!

Hello Dawn, Welcome to Disaboom. Disaboom has so much to offer and many great members to share and relate to. Come back often.
Welcome to Disaboom, Dawn!

Hello Dawn;
I am glad that you found this site also. My name is Scot58. I have been TBI since 9-19-70 , so I guess that makes me one of the older members of Disaboom. I only discovered this site about a week ago myself. All the people that I have met here seem to be really nice and quite friendly too. My first wife died in my arms in January 2003. It was from complications from a long fight with diabetes. I have since remarried and am very happy again. My wife of three years has had two (2) TBI's , plus numerous brain 'insults' throughout her life. I guess that makes me both a caregiver and a survivor also. I am quite happy to have discovered this site called Disaboom. I look forward to talking with you some othjer time .I'll be looking out for you . Take care - Scot58

Hi Debbie my name is Brida8 and i am new here.I am from sugarloaf,ca.i have fibromyalgia and love the forums as so
many people have so much advice to inform us.So hello too everyone in the forum.
Welcome! I also have FMS as well as chronic fatigue syndrome. I was wondering if anyone else out there in disaboom land has had convultions regarding their pain? My doc told me that it was built up anxiety and that was how my body expelled it. I have them when my CFS is at its worse. Also anyone out there applied for social security benefits? I had to leave my job last April (2006) due to my disability. I loved my job and was making an excellent income and it was hard for me to leave my job of over 12 yrs. Just couldn't do it anymore. My state disability just ended so my husband and I decided it was time to apply for SSI. I know it is going to be an uphill battle but I feel I deserve it. I have worked for 40 years and I just can't do it anymore, I just can't,
Any information that anyone has for me or others with the same issues is appreciated!
Thanks,
hurtn4certn
