C.Well I'm visuall impaired so I usually don't notice if people are looking at me but if someone asked me a question I usually talk to them. But it depends on the situation.
B. I am a teacher so I work with kids all the time and I find that they are much more open minded than adults
Yes/No Yes, If people are open minded and willing to adapt then my work will be better. If they are closed minded and not willing to make accommodations then I won't put as much effort into my work.
Positive/ Negative Both
Yes, I have a disabily but it does not have to be a handicap. I cringe when I hear the term Handicap or when I hear someonne not using person first language.
I'd say sometimes. Most of the time they are just trying to help. Most people know enough to ask first. When people try to hep with out asking it annoys me.

Age 50
Disability Spinal cord arteriovenous malformation (AVM) rupture 9/11/02 and spinal cord aneurysm.
Is your disability acquired? If so when? Yes. AVM rupture occured on 9/11/02. There's no way to tell when the AVM and aneurysm formed - I could have been born with either or both of them.
Physical 4
Self imposed 1
Usually a., unless it is a child, then I'll smile to let them know it's okay for them to look and wonder, and to ask questions or have a conversation if they want to. With adults it just depends on the situation, and sometimes my mood. Unless I feel a need, or reason, to explain to an adult about my disability I don't usually consider it of importance or a necessity.
Just adults in general. The only time it matters that the adult may be a parent is when they quickly move a curious child away, rather than encouraging them to look and ask questions.
Yes/No No, not regarding my disability or anything else.
Do you find the term handicap derogatory? It isn't necessarily derogatory, although it certainly can be used that way, but neither is it positive. I prefer 'disabled', or maybe other terminology, depending on the situation.
0 No, never.
Sometimes I prefer help when I've asked for it. But, people's intentions go a long way with me, and if they don't offer un-asked for help too often I'm willing to over look this kind of thing when they mean well.
If your disability could disappear would you do it? In a heart beat.
Most of your relationships have been with disabled/non disabled partners? All have been with ABs. I was already married to an AB man when the AVM rupture occured.
I am not a parent and don't want to have children.
Do you find the part(s) of your body affected by your disability less attractive? No.
When dating, do you find that you focus on that physical aspect of your partner more/ less? I'm married, so don't date.
If you use a mobility aid do you decorate it or choose the best looking style? Just have some faux sheepskin on my crutches for comfort.
