It came to me this morning during my shower. Like a terrific leg straightening spasm, this powerful thought formed, took shape and dominion over my brain.
Families, communities and populations for centuries have established unique and distinct pedigrees through connecting with hearaldty. This linage is usually manifested by adopting a COAT OF ARMS that denotes strength, tenacity, ferocity.
Now, clear away all thought and concentrate on this--Disanation's Coat of Arms--Two PWDs, wrestling with a Medicare Representative. Yes. Strength. Tenacity. Ferocity.
We shall roll forth, our banners flowing in the breeze, showing our true colors, bowing to none, for we now have our COAT OF ARMS.

Cool, you should design one and show it to us, I've always been interested in Coat of Arms, particularly in the Ex Libris setting.
I'm not an artist by a long way. There's folks on this site who are very talented in this area, perhaps they will create a design. We must not take this endeavor too seriously lest we be taken as disasnobs. Let levity rule!
I love this idea too and I'm totally hooked on the word Disasnobs...I pledge to fling that in a conversation tomorrow and just look as though it's a completely normal word! I'll let you know how it goes...lol! And if understood Illustrator better, I'd give our coat of arms a whirl!

Oy. I was having a hard time getting the words figured out.
But I think I've got it now.
Daisy, you're so incredibly talented, take a hefty swing at creating a coat of arms for the disability population. Something that would reproduce well and look good on t-shirts, caps, mousepads, etc.
Aye, the wheels are turning already.
But I´ll need some help with what needs to be in it.

My initial suggestion was two PWDs wrestling with a Medicare representative. Then I digressed into crossed cath tubes over a uninal; an empty wheelchair along side a set of steep stairs with the Pearly Gates atop. I'll allow my limited mind to wander further.

I would rather cross a pair of crutches. If You want to put it anywhere where people can see it it should be fun to look at, and not embarrass anybody.
Also I need ways to symbolize the different disabilities. A wheelchair for physical disability, three dots for the blind maybe, and...?
And I was wondering. So many coat of arms have a helmet on top. How about replacing that with a .. uh, word trouble here, um, one of those cervical corset things.

How about this:
A TLSO for the background (body brace)
A wheelchair wheel in front of it
Crossed - a prosthetic leg and a white cane
To one side: a caped service dog.
To the other side: an unconscious generic caseworker with an upside-down bedpan on their head (from where they've been clocked!).
Underneath, in a banner, the words: "e pluribus disabilitus unum"
And you thought I only did snark.
