If you have an SCI and don't know about United Spinal Association you might want to check them out. They offer free membership, and a free subscription to their monthly publication Action magazine.
They also offer support and information for people with MS, ALS, spina bifida, and all conditions of the spinal cord.
You can check them out online at:
United Spinal Association: http://www.unitedspinal.org/
In this months issue of Action they happened to have an article written by a woman who was affected by the same condition as I was (except that she doesn't appear to have a spinal cord aneurysm as well). Her name is Sheri Melander-Smith and she had a spinal cord AVM (arteriovenous malformation) rupture. She writes about the regrowth of the AVM after having had treatment, having several embolizations and surgeries, and paralysis. She continues to tell about completing her education and eventually returning to work again, and the accomodations made for her in the workplace.
You can read Sheri's story in Action's online version here: http://www.unitedspinal.org/publications/action/2008/05/12/working-story-turning-adversity-to-advantage/
Thanks for letting people know about United Spinal Association. I am a member and I enjoy the monthly Action Mag.
You're welcome. :-)
