Couldn't it cuase the same effects as ADD though should the portion of the brain damaged deal with ones concentration etc....

Yeah....that's exactly what I was saying in the rest of that sentence on my post.

      KaraSwims:
a brain injury can't *CAUSE* ADD but it could either produce symptoms that mimic it (difficulty concentrating, fidgeting, etc.)

The real difference comes down to diagnosis. You can't diagnose ADD unless you can determine it was there in early childhood. So if it wasn't, that wouldn't be the diagnosis but you can certainly still have those symptoms and treatment can still address them.

    •  Hi Andy, I had a friend in high school who had a transmission fall on his cheek while he was installing it.He began to grow an abscess that became as large as an apple . I remember his doctor telling him to have it removed before there was a chance it became cancerous. I don't mean to scare you ,plus that was back around 1970, but medicine has advanced so much that I'm sure your problems can be taken care of.

I was hit by a car while riding my bike when I was 13 and I am very lucky to be here.I haven't been the same since that day.I never had any growths but many other symptoms of head trauma .Don't be afraid to see a doctor for help. Some doctors can be idiots but most are caring and want to help.

growing up I had trouble in school staying focused on work etc.  But it seamed only the subjects I was extreamly interested in could I even begin to do well in.  I'm wondering if that bump on the head could have caused that.

If you are going to see a medical professional I would also ask them about attention deficet disorder (ADD).  Your brain injury mostly like did not cause a possible case of ADD but it could have been something you were born with.  I had trouble in school as well because of ADD.  I only did well in the classes that interested me.  I was only diagnosed with this problem a few years ago and knowing was half my battle and explained a ton about the reason I did things.  I'm not saying that a brain injury couldn't cause this type of focus-problem but I thought of ADD when I saw this sentence.

i have ADD and wasn't diagnosed until i was 25. i'm really glad that i know that i'm not stupid or incapable of learning. i also only did well in classes i was interested in, otherwise i slept or wrote notes or talked my way through school. it kind of pisses me off, though, that while other people i went to school with were being diagnosed, i was being tutored by a special-ed tutor. i feel like i was left undiagnosed because maybe there was the attitude that, well, she's disabled, she's not supposed to be smart or do well in school, even though i'm physically disabled and in no way developmentally disabled and  was never even in  a special ed class at all. well, except for PE. does that even count? anyway....there's my ADD story.

Hi, I agree with debbie, go get a mri, ive had a brain injury April 26th 1992, motor cycle accident. I don't have bumps I got dips.

Sounds like closed brain injury. Any trauma to brain, will cause after math effects. sensitivity to light is one of the ftermath effects.

            been there, where sunglasses,it helps.
