Hi everyone,
Has anyone taking Neurontin (Gabapentin) suffered from hair loss or severe hair thinning? I've been on it for three months since my injury for nerve pain (which I don't have that much of) and in the last couple of weeks I've noticed some severe hair loss. I read on some other sites that people have had that problem and I've since weaned myself off of it and am hoping the problem will go away. If you did notice it and you stopped taking it, did you hair thicken back up? How long did it take? I'm freaking out about all the hair loss...one major self-image change is enough in one year for me!

Hi, I took Nurontin, but it didn't make my hair fall out it made my vision blurry. I have been told being deficient in omega fatty acids can contribute to hair loss. My hair has been falling out, so I started taking them. I'll let you know if it helps.

Hi,
I take a large dose of Neurontin for muscle and nerve pain. I haven't noticed hair loss. There should be a list of possible side effects online and with most drugs that list is very long. I think it's affected my speech along with Fibromyalgia. I don't tolerate too many drugs very well and found Neurontin somewhat helpful for pain without a ton of side effects. I still wonder if it is the culprit for all this weight gain though.

I sure as heck hope Neurontin doesn't cause hair loss, being on it myself, but I haven't noticed that as a side effect or read such a thing other than in your post. For me, it has caused balance issues, psych and behavior issues, trouble communicating and fatigue. After a period of really bad side effects, it went away a bit and now I don't really notice anything when I take it. Wish you luck, I'd try using less hair products for a while, shampoo every three or four days and condition lightly. That could help with the volume of your hair and prevent some further damage.

I've been on as much as 3600 mg of Neurontin a day with no hair loss. It is the only medication that has not only helped with the neuropathic pain but also has decreased the number of migraine attacks and greatly improved my sleep. On the higher dosages I have had serious drowsiness and difficulties with cognitive skills but other than that I have had no problematic side effects.

I have been taking gabapentin for almost three months and I have noticed no hair loss whatsoever. I have had some people question why I'm taking this medication for my symptoms or what I need doesn't seem to be anything like what most patients who take gabapentin are treated for. Originally I think the doctor put me on this medication because of thought that I wouldn't look into the extremes as much as I normally do. I haven't really noticed a huge affect but that may be because I have never really taken the exact recommended dose. I'm prescribed a 600 mg tablet twice a day. I always get a lil off track and that effect is almost too much to bear. When I am an hour or two late taking gabapentin it seems like my exaggerated thoughts are multyplied to the extreme as to where rather then 10 extreme thoughts it's more like 2 but with a lot more meaning to where I believe the thought much more than normal.
