Hello everyone. I just found this site and being a new amputee I hope I can learn something. On March 3 this year I was working on a car with a stethoscope trying to diagnose a noise when my right sleeve caught in the serpentine belt. The result of the mangling by the belt and fan was amputation on my right arm 3 inches below my shoulder. I'm trying to get used to being lefthanded. I never knew how uncoordinated my left arm and hand was until I didn't have my right side ones any more. Even brushing my teeth is awkward not to mention typing this with one hand. One big problem with the computer is that I now need a mouse with the clicks reversed from what my wife needs. So far, she's adjusted to what I need. I hope to hear from folks with an arm amputation and how they deal with it. Thanks.

Lefty,
Don't know much about not having an arm, which really must suck, but i have been without both legs, above the knees, for 20+ years. All I can say is keep your chin up and you will find ways to continue doing those things you love to do. Good Luck!

Hi, Chris,
I'm amazed at all the responses I received. Knowing that others care is great therapy.

Damian,
Yes, not having my domiant arm does suck, but it ain't gonna grow back. Maybe I won't even miss it after its been gone for 20+ years like your legs. Do you use prosthesis?
