Hi Ya'll
Been a member for a couple weeks now and of course I had to go about learning the site the hard way. When in doubt read the directions..... Am a Polio survior and "type it lik it sounds" speller, both of witch have seriously changed my life.
Have Post Polio Syndrom, as if the first time wasn't enough to get my attention. Have been unemployed for seven months and just this month have become officially "disabled" . Am a seed bead artist, use size 11 and smaller seed beads for my color, fabric for my canvas and a three inch beading needle as my paint brush. Amazing how something so simple can keep you sane.
Hope to use this site to talk to other artist, find out how other Polio survivors are handeling every day life, and find REAL at home employment . I am a mid century contemporary, born 1949, am still here so contemporary, refuse title of Baby Boomer...all that says is that our parents did the dirty like a generation of crazed rabbits.
Hope to hear from other like minded, or what where you thinking! people.

Hey Becca, nice to meet someone else who lists seed beading as their occupation.. I had to retire from beading not long ago when carpal tunnel overtook both wrists. I'm complating the surgeries as we "speak", not sure yet. I worked mainly with Cheks, as I did mostly Native American style beading. You are more than right, such a tiny (and ancient) craft is incredibly relaxing. Here I am famaous (somewhat) for saying "one can bead anything, and anything can be beaded." Locally, my medicine bags were highly sought out as I used only traditional mateirals. Yeah, I kinda diss Japanese seed beads, but hear me praise Charlottes! (Size 13!) For you non-beaders, the higher the number, the smaller the bead. A 10 is larger than a 13. The smallest seed bead made for commercial and personal use is a 24! VERY few people work with those! I know I can't. i go blind working with Charlottes! ha!
BTW, my disability is spinal, although I am beginning to think the worse part of me is the Carpal Tunnel right now. took me forever to type this with the braces on!
Welcome to Disaboom.
