I used to be an artist, I have to reteach myself how to draw, since I don't have any fingers that work very well on my right hand. I have been trying to use my left hand, it is the better of the two. But go to my photos if you are interested in seeing some of my stuff. The pics are photos of my artwork, I wrote descriptions for each one but I don't know where they went to. I hope you enjoy mine because I sure have enjoyed everyone elses art work.....some great things I've seen.
thanks so much for this thread about artists. Those who create are differently abled to begin with so it fit right in with those of us who have a "disability". I am a seed bead artist. use size 11 and smaller seed beads for my paint, color, use fabric as my canvas and a three inch beading needle as my paint brush. I taught myself beading about 20 years ago and it as become my life saver when i have been chair and house bound.
I have gone from making bags, my avatar is one of my pieces to my current project of making beaded Bible covers. I have hung my work in local galleries and have sold somethings. I think my biggest project was making 20 8-10 beaded griffins and celtic horses for a quilt. I don't know if it was ever made into the quilt but I did have fun doing it. I really got into the art when I ws a member of the SCA..Society for Creative Achacronism (sp) a midevil recreation group. My play name was "Becca the beader" and that's how friends know me to this day.
My family has gotten used to my beading obsession. I keep threathening to learn how to make my own beads but finances and a place to have live fire have held me back. Hope to have some pictures up soon. It really is a good artform good for me cause the pieces are kinda small, can be done using an embridery hoop and be created seated. I get asked how long does a piece take? I didn't know for the longest time but now I have figured its an inch per hour, so i let the asker do the math.

sorry; I can't see a painting in Your photo section. One empty box that says "The Earth" though.
This is an on going project from the workbench. Friends of our's have a home bar and after 2 years haven't named it. Well, I decided I'd name it after a mutual friend that passed away at and early age.
I still need to do a few touch ups with the router. The sand and paint.BTW, Mookie is also their dogs name.
Well, what can I say? It sure is another fine piece of good craftsmanshift.
Did You handcarve the letters? Can't see to well, but it looks a little uneven around the edges.
If so, do You really want to smoothe it all out? I always like it when it's visible on first sight that I handcarved something. -But well, I have no experience with signs like that, and don't know nothing about the proper looks.
Anyway, I think Your friends will love it. For both name reasons, and for the effort You put in for them.
It's a great way to remember a friend, and I hope You will raise a lot of glasses for him.

It was carved out by using a power router. I haven't decided yet about the rougness. Nice clean edges will give a smooth professional look, but the rougher edges give it the hand carved look... Hmmm? What to do?
Also, the fun part is that my wife and I will sneak over while the girls are away on their wedding anniversary. We'll install it without their knowledge. :) They never should have given us keys to their house.
You have made it a great piece of work to this stage, and I'm very confident that You will finish it in exactly the right way.
Hmm, did Tim and Al (Home Improvement) invent some kind of salute for the wood crafters? If so I'll apply it here.
