Would you believe that on Saturday in CO; the Obama campaign starts its Solutions for CO in 2 different cities but not mentioning one word about the ADA anniversary?
This is why we wont be voting for him. While he has alot of pretty words on his website; talks alot; we really dont think he is capable of doing anything. That is what we told the campaign too when they emailed us about another issue on him and asking us to join them. It just floors us as how the one anniversary we have; no one but us will even adknowledge.
He also wants to give amnesty to millions of illegals by forcing them out of the shadows to accept a green card by paying back taxes; maybe a fine; maybe learning English; maybe a few other minor things but they dont have to go home while millions of people do it the legal way by waiting outside the country. If this happens; the SSA / SSDI will be in even more dire straights then it is now and as usual no one is thinking about the long term effects of adding millsions of illegals to the SS system.
Imagine what a disabled person could do with the amount of help they would get instead of giving it to the illegals??? and the jobs we could be doing if illegals werent doing it? Jobs that pay well with benefits!!!

You do know that you pay into your social security account, right? It's not like you are just added in and presto! you get benefits without ever paying for them.
McCain also did not acknowledge the ADA anniversary, but he was actually in the country and not meeting with heads of state in the middle east. But really? why do you care if either candidate acknowledged the ADA anniversary? That is so far down on a list of priorities. Wouldn't you rather they were committed to strengthening the ADA and actually doing something rather than pausing to remember the anniversary of the legislation? I certainly didn't remember it!

Well Tridog:
Maybe some people will get the sight restored to their eyes!!! We never believed all the hype; the acting like he is the next JFK; etc that some people have become allowed to beleive.
The situation in CO regarding the disabled and been a very serious hell for a very long time. We had 8 years with Owens telling us there are no ADA problems in CO. Now we have Ritter who doesnt even know the difference between DD and someone who needs to use the relay when we made a call to ask about the disability situation on a local call in show we have 4 times a year here with him.
Now on a national level; we dont even count yet there are supposed to be 54 million of us which is 1/6 of the population approximately.
JM (Its JM Fay please)

I thought I'd provide the most up-to-date information about the Disability Forum in Ohio, which I will be attending (be sure to track me down if you're there!):
First: John McCain is personally participating in the forum via remote satellite. (source)
Second: Barack Obama is NOT personally participating, but he will be represented at the event by Senator Tom Harkin. (source)
If you're unable to attend the forum but would like to watch it live or to view archived footage of the event after it has concluded you can do so on Disaboom.com--we're webcasting the entire thing. To sign up to view the webcast go here: http://www.disaboom.com/AAPDSignUp.aspx
