After reading so many wonderful posts here on this topic I started a few days ago, I find it so interesting that we all seem to seek the same things, and yet, have so many ideas of what Disaboom should be for us each... I hope the Staff of Disaboom has taken time to view everyone's answers, ideas !! I'm sure this topic has come up before, and will again as Disaboom grows and grows, and I hope it offers new an old booms a chance to share their hopes and dreams on here... Thank you all again for taking time out to share on here. Blessings, Lisa Catherine

Being a weather geek, I discovered the Disaboom Ad on Intellicast.com and checked it out. I have always identified with the disabled community and although sometimes I don't feel I deserve to be here, yes, I do have a mobility impairment that restricts my daily activities. My real motivation is to be, first of all, an encouragement to those who have it a lot tougher than I do; to enlighten and educate on airline travel with a disability, and to further educate myself on all of the disabilities out there that I know so little about. I am so very grateful to those of you who have taken the time to help many of us understand what it is like to cope with a disability that we cannot even imagine. Keep it up!

I learned about Disaboom on a MS website looking for information and how others cope and live with MS It was an informative site with friendly folks that offered alot of information and support. After lurking for quite a while I have jumped in and made some friends and aquaintences. I hope no enemies. I'm sad the chat room is closed, I was just trying it out some and meeting a few people. I guess it's unrealistic to expect everyone to respect each others views and have some patience with each other. I would be really lost if Disaboom disappeared. Lynn

Howdy Finetooner! I see by your profile you are a fellow cartoonist! I've only been doing them for a short time. I would love to see some of your toons.
Can you private message me some or post some of your work on Disaboom? The 'Arts and Culture' section is a great place to post them.

I joined Disaboom because I found that I was spending alot of time chatting with people all over the world on a music site and I had nothing to say. I spend my days chatting with my friends and clients who are the most colorful and pleasant people who also happen to have disabilities. I really love my job because I love the people and I want to make a difference. It doesn't make sense to chat only with people I do business with (and a few friends). My company only services Georgia. I want to learn more and meet people and be a part of the big picture personally - in parts of the country where I can't do business - because I really care.

I joined Disaboom because I am a stroke survivor. I wanted to learn from others and I also wanted to share. I want to be a source of inspiration and motivation to the community. I am the author of Take Brave Steps for Stroke Survivors and Families - A Message of Motivation and Hope. I wanted to let the community to know about my book. Although the book is written from the perspective of a stroke survivor, it is a helpful tool to anyone that has experienced a life altering ilness or other life altering event. I have a vision to have a Take Brave Steps discussion group or a Take Brave Steps motivational forum. I would like to invite like minded individuals to make suggestions and do whatever possible I can to to help motivate others. My book has much focus on how to better cope with the mental, social and emotional aspects of what can happen when one's life is changed forever and sometimes without warning. There is a review of Take Brave Steps in the books section of health/lifestyle on the disaboom site. I have recently joined the community and I am grateful for all the great people that I have had an opportunity to interact with. I hope to meet many more as time goes on. I have recently completed my profile and started a blog. I would like to invite everyone to visit. I also would like to host guest bloggers. I think it is a fantastic site and I am glad to be a part of the community. If you would like more info on how to obtain my book or download free motivational articles, please visit my web site at www.takebravesteps.com .

To be honest I joined Disaboom for a couple of reasons Because there are a lot more people here than any other disability site that I have ever found, and I can say things here that I could never say on any disability board..
