    • My folks need me home asap, esply my mom who is fading fast at 90.  i want to help my (step)Dad keep her out of a nursing home - That's our rallying cry, like "Remember the Alamo!" : "No nursing home for Mom!"  What's really beauty-full about all tHIS, except for the travailing stress of planning and then traveling with my old frail/yet feisty cat, Gollyboy, and a few boxes of special belongings (and practical stuff: bedding, cage, etc.) - what's beauty-full is that all my life Mom was 'way too big for me and now she's not anymore and i just can't wait to pour all the hands-on TLC on her that i've always known how to give little people who don't talk very much ;)So, i've come here for any and all advice and help y'all can offer, o folks of my tribe!

i've been sorta daydreaming that one way to get there would be a chain of drivers and homes so nobody would have to drive very far.  I mentioned it to a parent advocate and she said, "Oh, like the Underground Railroad" - and then apologized.  But i quickly reassured her that that was exactly right, and so fitting since i've always felt like a slave anyway!  (anybody identify with that, stranded on this strange planet, doing the best we can, striving to be a blessing v a curse to the big people?)

Another thought was that it would be a nice 2-way street if i rode with what i call AFFABLES: Autism-Friendly Folks Able to help, because being able to be honest with them would give them a window into an old autistic's head that they might not ever be privileged to see into otherwise!  Not all that many of us up in years like me - 65 now.  Been a Christian for 12 years and diagnosed 10 yrs ago(actually PDD-NOS due to lack of documentation of early years, but UTX  was sure i was really Aspergers).  So, here i am a still very-functional woman (toddler in a woman's body, actually!) who truly, TRULY needs to get home to Houston!

Thanx for reading. Be blessed by my Daddy in Heaven just for tHIS! nd if you can advise or help, WOW!

    • Just thought I'd wish you good luck-I'm down in Miami and definitely not a good cross-country driver but hopefully something will work out for you! Have you thought about a one-way ticket and shipping your belongs...you could check your cat and keep him/her under the seat in your car. I think Southwest was having a sale on one-ways not long ago but I know prices are high these days with the hospital. Hope you get home to your mom soon!

    • Hi, Debbie & Kara & Joel!  thanx so much for your e-COURAGE-ments.  You have no idea how much they mean to me!  Well...there's NEWS to report @ the first 3rd of the trip: twas sitting right under my roof! Yup! (yUP^ - as in, answered prayer!)  The gal i share our home with is going home to Clemson next weekend and offered to drop me and Golly in Atlanta on Sunday the 16th!  So, that just leaves two-thirds to go!  and, gulp, 6 days to figure out the Rest of iT for me and Golly, B4 Pat's trip on Friday!

NOW, do y'all, my first friends here, have any suggestions?  And, is there a way to move this post and/or alter/edit it to say Atlanta->Houston?  Also, is there a way to get it seen by more people?  How do i reach folks who live in Atlanta - there must be some, yes? Look! i DID get "Subject"line edited ;)

btw, i have sneaked peeks at each of y'all 3's sites, just no time to respond now...but, once gotten to TX - yes, i surely will!  Looking so forward to having time to visit back and forth - y'all sound and look so cool!  for now, thanx again for everything - mostly just being there!  i intro'd Disaboom to a ARC rep. ;)

...and seaSon's Greetings (no matter how high or rough the seas, He Makes Way(s) thru the waves!)

in His loving Strength and strengthening Love,

      Gollyboy & val(Jesus'n'me)

    • hey, Debbie!  thanx for coming back!  my Dad had the same idea, about taking the bus the rest of the way.  When i reminded him,"only service animals allowed," he concocted dark glasses and a cane for me, and a harness for little ole Gollyboy, the orange tabby German Shepherd!  hope you get a laugh out of that image - i sure did!

But,the fact sadly remains, Golly's not eligible. Once upon a time, many decades ago i actually smuggled a tiny kitten from Austin to Houston in a small, but-roomy-for-him  leather gym bag with the top slightly unzipped.  We made it on Greyhound, took about 3 very pins-and-needles hrs.  Rules are a lot stiffer now...i wdn't dare try it with a full-size monster with big lungs like Golly!

i'll check out blogging it later...thanx again, mi amiga!
