This is my attempt to make the longest thread on Disaboom!
Talk about things such as how your day was and stuff! Maybe tell a joke or two!
I'll start:
Today, I am working out with a personal trainer! In addition, my birds are sick.
Ok next person!
Joel:If a tree falls in a forest and there is no one there to hear it does it still make a sound?
If a tree falls in a forest and there is no one there to hear it does it still make a sound?
More to the point: Did it fall or was it pushed?
Disability & mobility aids & informationDisabled Hobbies & Sport
The tree is falling and not being pushed by a force.
Based on that factor, what do you think?
I'll play!
Well my day was fine but it's still going like the energizer bunny. Started around 6 AM and as of 5 I'm still at work. We were missing 2/4 docs from the NICU today and then I had clinic where most of my patients actually came! My one patient who had surgery last week looks great! I wrote a note for a girl whose school won't let her have a water bottle and one for a boy saying he needs his inhaler at school. I worry about our schools some days. Also a kid whose insurance won't cover the medication I think he would most benefit from. I worry about insurance every day.
Now I'm back in the NICU because time, tide and medical paperwork wait for no woman. Tried to send a baby home, but his pediatrician's office is closed for "Christmas" until early January so he has no follow up. Then at 4:30 PM I called the covering doctor but his office closed at 4:00. Gee, to have work hours like those two! I brought oatmeal for dinner and hope to be home in time for ER.
Oh and about the tree. Sound waves occur whether they reach ear drums or not. That's my final answer.
Thanks for the tree-answer. So right.
I do so genuinely wonder how the United States can afford themselves such a poor healthcare system.
Here in Germany things are going down for some twenty years now, and it isn't as bright as things have been back in the seventies, but whenever there are new cuts all voices warn that we are heading for "American conditions." Are you aware that you serve to be a very bad example?
Here in Germany we have quite a secure healthcare system. I don't have a job and live on social support, but still, I'm compulsorily insured, as well as my children. By now every patient has to pay € 10 every quarter of the year as kind of an entrance fee to the doctor's office, (Only if one goes to see a doc.). and for the first 14 days in hospital every patient has to pay another € 10. But only once a year. Also we have to pay a participation for most medicines. If that is more than 2% of the yearly income, one can apply for an exemption. Children don't have to pay for anything. That is to keep parents from keeping medical aid from their children to save money.
It's not that the insurance pays for anything. But usually every German citizen will get sufficient medical treatment, and good rehabilitation means.
Again: I live on social income, and when the amputation was due, all I had to do was to call my .. is it an orthotist? the folks that are in charge of wheelchairs, prostetics and all. He came by to have a look at my bathroom and to see what kind of rails I need, and which ones would work. They will come and install them, and it won't cost me a dime.
I so wish to live in America. But the health care usually gives me second thoughts.
And I'm not exactly a fan of Arnold, but I heard he is trying to open the doors for a better healthcare system in California?

hi, i had an awesome sight today..a perfect snowfall, driving my car with the music nice and singing and i had to go slow because there was a young teenage girl riding her horse on the side of the road..it was awesome, the snow was falling on her and the horse and she had a beret hat with mid legnth black straight hair and a big smile came on my face when i saw this and i said to myself..now this is living..the moment ....
i called marie [my sister in law but more like my sister] and had a great phone call. she's really a doll and i told her about the horse and she told me about her great enjoying the snowday too..good idea joel...
hi scipilot, nightengale and daisies, i wanted to know if you saw the movie sicko? i wrote a blog about it. i don't get it how someone can't see [especially the children] peoples health and lives more important than money???
oops joel forgot to mention what's wrong with the birds? their second time being sick right? do they get sick easy the poor things? i hope they get better
Hi Debbie,
I read the blog, but I never heard of the movie.
Might be it's here under a different name, or, if it is a very recent movie, that it will take some time until it gets here.
Or maybe it's just me not being very well informed when it comes to cinemas.
P.S.: Uh,yes. All the best for the birds, Joel
hi daisies, how are you doing? it's called sicko written by michael moore and he is in it too. i bet you can rent it by now. i think you would like it. bye
hey joel, i was thinking we could make the guinesse book of world records lol. the disaboomers can keep this going for months and months lol good luck
Debbie: it's called sicko written by michael moore and he is in it too. i bet you can rent it by now. i think you would like it. bye
Oh I see. Now, I wonder why I haven't heard of it, because Michael Moore usually is covered seamlessly here.
But I have to admit I'm having mixed feelings about him.
Okay, first I'd like to congratulate myself on being number 11 here.
No I haven't seen Sicko, don't like movies much, would rather read the book. Has it come out in paperback yet?
Also I feel like I'm living it. Most of my patients do have insurance, due to laws about coverage for children, but not all their parents do. And someitmes actually the mandated state insurance for kids is better than some of the less good private insurances.
Sorry that last post was so short but I didn't want to look like an ass for saying my last post was # 11 and then having some fiend slip theirs in at #11. Oh the humanity!
See that????? Nightengale dang near slipped a post in at #11. That doesn't make you a fiend but dang near Nightengale. I hope you realize I'm kidding. Then again, maybe I'm the fiend........<insert evil grin>
Oh Deb, I vote for the lab.
Right now, I'm drinking a Blue Moon with a slice of orange in it while watching a bad TV show and taking part in a really long list of posts. How's that for multi tasking?
Can someone explain something to me? Since when do medical examiners 1) interview suspects 2) carry firearms and last but not least C) make arrests in murder cases or any cases for that matter?
Not that TV was any better when I was a kid but it's just slick crap now. Maybe I should be in the "pisses me off" thread..........lol.
