    • Prayers to WPB who just underwent DBS.  The night before the surgery, which you have to stay awake for, WPB came to the chat room.  What he found was support from the disaboomers.  We all gave him support and a place for him to say he was scared to death.  We told him to remember we would all be in the room with him.  This continued and it was getting late but people stayed on longer than usual to be able to give him support and people to talk to.  The next day in the chat room we wondered how he  was doing knowing he'd be in no shape to be on the disaboomer chat room.  But what was really amazing was to find out that one woman stayed online til 3 am because he couldn't go to sleep.   This is what disaboom is about and in the chat room a week earlier someone else with parkinson said he had had Deep
Brain Stimulation and that was passed on to WPB.  WE all are wishing WPB the quickest recovery and we await his name on the chat line once again.  Parkinson may be new in the discussion category but we've been meeting plenty with it on the chat line.  Welcome aboard!!!

    • Gail S. Goodman age 55,upstate New York dyslexic but big problem is that do to a 2am night shift, after a year and a half I was really sick from light and sleep deprivation and developed a mood disorder and then 5 years ago was attacked and still suffer from PTSD. Developed sleep apnea and now take med ication for that to. On the outside I seem perfectly well. So my disability is hidden but it has affected me socially because I'd just as soon be alone but they warned me that is not good so I force myself out. But rarely enjoy it. My mood disorder is organic and I suffer from severe depression even when things are going well but medication and therapy have helped. When I tell them that I was attacked there seem to be some compassion but best of all I don't get question why I am on workers comp...it happened at work, I'm still struggling to get back more of me and it is slowly coming. I always need hope. I live on hope. I've been getting good results from a highly potent liquid vit/min suppliment with 65 trace elements and even more for just $19.95. Its a miracle someone told me about it. By day three I felt different. Here is the site if you want to check it out,it even has 16 pages of the physicians desk reference. If you want it DON't pay retail just order the wholesale and you even get a free website but you don't have to sell. I just tell my friends what it has done for me and another friend and they check it out. Its up to you .....no selling here just info www.shopGBG.com/gailgoodman

      •   He is doing fine and was in the chat room two days later.  He is the second one from disaboom to have had the surgery.  The first guy got up and walked  he didn't use his chair.  of coouse he had just had major surgery so I'm sure they put him in it but wow  what a difference it made in their lives.  Michael J Fox had the operation, too.  When you decide to have it then let us know and we will say prayYesers for you around the time of the surgery.

    • I'm a speech pathologist, and I had a patient do marvelous with DBS....and that was 5 years ago when he had it.  In the meantime, you might want to check out the company that makes positive recordings for specific rehabilitation topics, they even have one for parkinson's caregiver.  www.independentachievement.com   Prayers are here too!

    •  Guess u are talking about me being the other with the DBS.. Dont put it off.. if they say u are a candidate go for it.... cant believe how much better life is now.. and yes like they said i needed help out of wheel chair to operating table..but 10 1/2 hrs later i slid myself over to the gurney off operating table...then got off gurney and walked in my room  and changed into clothes by myself.. cound not believe it.. but please go for it. i waited 2 yrs ... and should not have what a difference.... The worse thing i is putting the halo on.  and once  its on  its a piece of cake.. now mine was 10 1/2  hours ofnot moving your head.. by the way....you are awake for the whole operation because you have to  move certain body parts for them to see how they are doing.......but you dont feel anything because there is no pain in the btain.... well anyway its all history now still not a walk  in the park all the time with the tune ups you have to get , and the bad days you sometimes have.. but im still so glad my wife finally convinced me to have it done....I know its scary but so is $3.24  a gallon for gasoline...any questions please ask me i will be happy to tell you anything.. but please dont put it off  ....GO FOR IT..

    • That's a really cool strory Gail-I hope he's doing better and it's nice to hear how Disaboomers support each other. I see it every day and it's really awesome to know that in big moments of fear-everyone rallied for him. Hope he checks in with us as he feels better.
