    •  Hi all, it's Runt. Just wanted to know if anyone out there has survived a brain aneurysm like I have. It's been almost 11 years since that awful day, but I have learned quite a bit also. I wanted to see if from the aneurysm, anyone has contracted other illnesses such as myself.

      Thanks!

    • Hi John,

My aneurysm was also on my left side which I'm told is the physical side of the brain. I've contracted hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia since then. My balance is off a lot of times, but I can still walk. I still get what I refer to as a " squirrely feeling" that runs up and down the left side of my head. Also, I have a "swishing noise" when I turn my head to the right. I notice it more at night.

It's really nice to talk to someone who has survived this awful thing. My doctor kept telling me over and over that I really shouldn't be here. Nice huh?  Smile

Can I ask where you were when this happened? I actually just came home from spending the night out of town with a couple of friends taking me out for my birthday. I drove about 40 minutes back home that morning, and was  was planning on taking my nephew Christmas shopping that morning. I took a shower and when I was drying my hair, that's when it hit. I was coherent the entire time. I've never felt so much pain in all my life. I was afraid if I would pass out, I'd never wake up.

I know for me the 1st year really was the toughest.  I wasn't sure what to expect, and my doctor really wasn't sure either. Depression, funny feelings in my head constantly ( which I was told that was the brain healing), and everyone I knew would look at me a little different. They weren't sure how I would act or what all it had effected. To tell ya the truth, I had fun with that one sometimes!

Just to let you know, it does get better with time.

Let me know if you have any questions. Let's help each other.

      Joni

    • Hello, After I had a stroke the doctors found a brain aneurysm and I needed a brain operation.

All this started in late 2000. The brain was entered in standard operation. Allergies that were

greatly improved after years, 20 plus , of allergy shots returned full force after the brain operation.

It is as though the operation cleared away all those years of allergy shots. Aside from this the only

other problem has been high blood pressure I never had before the brain aneruysm. There is so

much,as we are all aware ,  not known about our brain. SandyB

    • Hello, I've not had an aneurysm, but am disabled following my 8th concussion since I was 12. Prior to that I never had allergies, but ever since I have. Not enough information to state that my allergies are caused by my brain injury but they seem clearly related. You are indeed right, SandyB, there is much we don't understand about the brain. Blessings, Patrick

    • Sorry, I didn't realize you had replied. I guess I expected it to show up on my personal email.

I was driving when zi started to tingle and vision got wierd. I parke at a Sams club and walked inside thinking the feeling would pass. When i knocked over a sign a clerk asked if I was OK and I said no. She called the EMT's and I woke up in the hospital remembering nothing, but I am told I went blind and into convulsions.

You're right, the 1st year is the worst!

Bad depression, came close to suicide.

Moe mobile now and exercize a lot .(i'm up to 150 sit ups/day)

I still get bored. How do you occupy your time?

    • Hi John, how ya doing?

Well, I'll tell you one thing... If I didn't have my dog, I think I'd go nuts! She definetly keeps me going.

I also have started a company for those with an illness or disablity online. It's been such a great help to me for it takes the focus off my illnesses. I work all day on the computer, writing articles, working on my website and learning different things about marketing on the Internet. You can never stop learning. I also have a blog where I post articles and work at home ideas. I'm always looking for new ideas to pass on. This takes up most of my time, although I do clean a couple of houses during the week for extra money. Also my parents are getting older now, and I need to keep as healthy as I can to make sure I can give them what they need. I've been sick since I was 16 and they were always there for me. It's time to make sure I give back. I also have an ab-lounger I work on. And I call that work! I'm up to 80 a day. Good job on your part for 150 a day! I don't know if I'll ever make it that high! With all the pain I'm in already, I can't figure out why I'd infict myself with more!

Anyway, that is pretty much my day. I'm up at 5:30am, and in bed by 9:00pm. I love the mornings. My husband thinks I'm crazy for getting up that early. (But he does too.) I like to listen to music alot, and I love to cook. Unfortunately I never had children. But I should of due to my domestic nature. I love being home. That's where I feel the safest.

Give me a jingle back if you'd like. Take care.

      Joni (Runt)

    • Hi Sandy. How are you doing?

After my brain aneurysm, I was in a support group which helped me out alot. But it seemed to me that many survivors where on some kind of anxiety medicine. I was depressed for awhile, but I was almost to scared to take anything because I wasn't sure what kind of effect it would have on me. When I left the hospital, I didn't get like a list of what I could do or not do. I thought that was strange. I actually found out 7 years later after a cat scan, that I could never have an MRI done. I'm glad someone finally let me in on that one. I guess I have a metal plate somewhere in there. I was teasing the nurse about it and said, "What would happen? My head blow up or something?" and she said that's exactly what would happen. Pretty scary... So, do you take any medication for those symptons?

      Talk to ya soon,

      Joni

    • Hi Todd!

Those are some fancy words your using! I probably wouldn't of remembered a term like that if I was told!

I was telling Sandy in a previous post that I don't take any medication for anxiety. But I gotta tell ya, I love my Bud Light. A couple of beers relaxes me alot. I'd rather do that. And I to am a smoker. Quit for 3 months after surgery, but couldn't continue not smoking once I got back into the real world. I know it's bad, but I guess I could be a drug addict or something. You seem to be a person full of energy and humor. I like that. It keeps us sane sometimes!

      Talk to ya later,

      Joni

    • Hi Patrick!

Can you tell me how you've gotten 8 concussions? Oh my Gosh! Have you fallen, or got hit with something? I don't mean to pry, but I've never heard of someone with 8 concussions. That sounds really awful...

      Talk to ya soon,

      Joni

    • I'm also a brainstem (hemorachic) stroke survivor. It happened 12 years ago. I am in a wheelchair after fracturing my hip. I have a Service Dog that helps me out. She knows 90+ commands. I stay busy on the computer doing Web pages.

    • Hello Runt,

I am a 4 yr. survivor of a Subarachnoid Hemorraghe ( brain aneurysm ) I love to use the technical term because most times I can spell it correctly. I sure hope this was one of those times.

So far I haven't developed any other new problems. The ones I did have got a little worse but not terrible. I now suffer from restless leg syndrom which is part of Fybromyalgia, which I was diagnosed with yrs. before the blow up.

I am doing as well as I can do for now. Considering I could barley walk a flight of stairs and now I can roller skate again. The look on my daughters face watching me do something she never thought I'd do again was priceless.

Any tie you wish to chat  I a on yahoo messenger as " nany1998_02@yahoo.com " When you add me or email me please put disaboom friend in the subject line so I know your not spam.

         Thanks,

         Bonnie
