    • Hello and so sorry to hear your in the same shape as my brother!  My brother is in horrible shape with this stupid gout..  He first got it at the end of NOVEMBER...was hospitalized finally Dec. 17 until end of Jan!! Guess what, he still has it horribly.  He has only one kidney, and Diabetes, and M.S.  So this on top is a real treat.  He has in his Hand and is in so much pain.  They have done nothing at all for him. NOTHING. They about killed him with the colicin or whatever that pill is for gout i'm sure you've taken it. Well they gave him 2 every 2 hrs and he was just about dead!  It didn't help at all either.  He has been on steriods for prob. a month and now there weining him off those. They have yet to do anything for him at all but pump him full of pain medicines and they don't work either.  I've been reserching the webs and found some things that might help you but with him only having one kidney, some is not an option for him.  They said ibuprophen is good for helping.  No aspirin will cause more uric acid.  No meat and fish.  Use preporation H on red spot for relief of swelling?  Hav n't tried that one yet.  Durectic's which he takes 3 a day and kidney doctor insists for him to do....well they will cause more acid.  elevate..use ice but in same breath they say to keep real warm?  thats about all we know.  I think it's crap no one can help those of you suffering it's terrible to see my brothers life deterate of something like this.  He cant even get up because of course it's in his hands, can't eat, cant go to bathroom it's like he's a paralized victim!!  I hate it and I will find something with research and with going to diff Dr offices and when I do, I will let you know.  If you have any suggestions or answers, please I would love to hear from you.   Get better soon..

      Concerned sister....

    • Hello and thanks for the help but Ronnie had been on it for over a month and nothing.  He is now running 102. fever and we've taken 3 times to Dr. and they gave him antibodic but has been 6 days still fevered.  I'm afraid he's not going to pull through this if we don't find help

    • Here briefly is my story and what helped me with gout. My doctor tried Celebrex and other meds for

my gout. I swelled up very badly from all meds. The Dr. asked me to try Omega  3 Fish Oil and see if

this would help me. It did very fast within  3 days, all swelling went down and pain was gone, I take this

each day now for 8 years. To get started 8 years ago I took 3 omega 3 fish oil every day for 2 months,

then down to 2 ,after 2 more months one a day... which I still take now. I never swell at all anymore .

I do not say this will help you but it was a miracle for me. I buy mine in the drugstore in the vitamin

section. Note: It was tomato season and the Dr. asked how many  tomatoes a day I ate?  I told him four.

He told me tomatoes  have uric acid and that too much uric acid is the basic cause of gout. SandraB

    • I am a new member and seen your gout posting.

This is probably OLD HAT but sinse I used Allopurinol 300 mg's once per day this blots the acid that causes the pain. This has to be given to you by a doctor.  This was the only treatment that worked for me and it lets me have a drink now and again, I drink single malts. If I stop the med my big toe warns me not to.

      I hope this may help
