My legs bend inwards a bit at the knees, placing a lot of stress on the lateral (outside) section of my knees. The Dr. shaved down the cartilage on my lateral meniscus about five years ago. It has been alot better, but they still bother me from time to time. When I was in elementary school, I used to write with my left hand. Then, my teacher made me write with my right hand, causing my writing to go squirrely. I have noticed that my right scapula has gotten a lot of arthritis. So, I have tried doing some things with my left hand to reduce the arthritis levels. So far, it has been working pretty well. That, and I take glucosamine chondroitin, and calcium citrate, which I think both help. The point is, whenever someone is rude towards me, I tell them that it is a way for everyone else to catch up with me :)

John917v,
About a month ago, I found out I have arthritis behind my kneecap and it hurts. I take arthritis strength Tylanol and it has been doing a pretty good job for me this far. I also found out from my doctor that for every pound of body weight you lose, you lose 4 pounds of pressure on your joings.
I think my arthritis, developed from 2 sports related injuries, it started out as osteoartritis, but it has become just arthritis.
Hope you feel better, do what your doctor says. I hate going, but PHYSICAL THERAPY does help.

I have arthritis in my knees, hips, back,& left shoulder. I take Tylenol and it seems to help a little. My right shoulder was rebuilt about 15 years ago and it does not bother me.I wish there was some kind of physical therapy that medicare would cover without a 50% co-pay.

I take both, too, as well as Vitamin D and Fosamax for bones. The Walgreens brand of glucosamine chondroitin was highly recommended by my physical therapist hunk, so I figure if it works for him, it ought for me, too.
I hate the sounds of joints grinding and snapping, so the arthritis in my neck really drives me nuts. Regular stretching exercises help to keep moving parts moving, and like that say, "Use it or lose it." It's all part of the therapy for keeping active and healthy even with osteoarthritis nipping out our youth.
