I am so sorry you went had to go through this, did both of you have insurance?
I know what you're going through. 5 yrs ago I also was hit by a drunk driver, he had the state min. insurance coverage, thank god at that time my coverage was pretty good. All he got was a $700 fine, he went to court while I was still in the hos[pital, I was in the hospital 2 1/2 months.13 surgeries later, I'm now broke, disabled,in pain,my life is pretty much sitting at home or going to the dr.,pain meds etc. You might get some help with medical bills if you qualify for a waiver from your depart.human services, thats what they call it in Arkansas. I had to wait 2 years to get on medicare and I had to apply for waivers for a couple of surgeries.Good luck and God bless you.
moonlilly:I think we need more laws when it comes to accident victims. I was just in court and the kid that hit me got off free, and I have to pay the court cost and his lawyer and all the doctor visits, that over 40,000.00 and that is over what I make in two years. my lawyer was Mike Welch of Hardy Wolf and downing. I'm a single mom and have to work two jobs just to make ends meet. I feel so lost and can't get any help. I hurt and have to have needles in my spine just to kill some of the nerves that are causing a lot of the pain. I need some help, I just don't know what to do any more.
I'm confused about what happened here. And even more confused on how the other person got off scott free if it was their fault. Could you please elaborate?
Thanks,
Ms. Jessie
I don't believe my eyes...
Welcome to Disaboom and... What can I say? This seems so awful!
I do hope that you will seek the advice of professionals in this matter.
My best to you for justice to be served.
Dave
P.S. With no profile, I have to ask. Are you in the States?
