    •      I am the Program Director of an adaptive ski/snowboard program in NH and I just wantd to make all of you aware that most adaptive ski programs are open to individuals on the autism spectrum.  I've gotten a few phone calls from parents who arent' sure if our program is the right place for their children.  It it. In fact about 60% of our students are individuals with developmental disabilities.

I've also become aware of government grants that are available through community organizations to assist in recreational programs for individuals with developmental disabilities.  The one that I have experiance with is the Autism Alliance of MetroWest in Boston.  I'm guessing that their are similar organizations in most cities.

We've found that skiing is a great option for people with developmental disabilities because its something they can do with their family and friends and the skiing community is a very inclusive group.  If anyone is in New England and would like more information about adaptive skiing/snowboarding and sports in general click on www.abilityplus.org.
