    • I am looking for a good recommendation of a shower bench that is portable and easy to travel with.

I first had a metal bench that would fold up, but it was very heavy.

Then I got a Qunatum portale shower bench. It is made if PVC pipe and I have broken 2 while traveling. We pad it, but the folks at the airport throw it around and break it. It cost a lot, $500. Looking for something else.

Anyone use anything that is light weight and durable?

    • Hi Taggie.

We have this one that comes with its own bag: http://www.activeforever.com/ps-1013-1-drive-carry-bag-and-bath-bench.aspx

We also have this one that looks a lot less clinical: http://www.activeforever.com/ps-1890-1-moen-mesh-folding-shower-seat.aspx

There may be a few others on our site that I am missing, so feel free to browse around. If you see one you like, Disaboom members get an additional 5% off (just use the discount code "Boom").

      Hope this helps you out!

      Richard

    • Richard,

Thanks for the info and reply.

I need a padded seat (without a hole cut out). It also needs to be able to straddle the tub for a transfer or function in a roll-in shower. i never knowwhat i will get when traveling. Weight and durability are everything.

      Thanks.

    • Taggie, did you ever find a good travel bench?  I've been searching for one for my husband.   It's so annoying to get to a hotel and find they don't have suitable shower arrangements in an accessible room.  I did just see a possible bench, maybe by Rubbermaid, that was just a bench that went from one side of tub to the other.  The only downside was that it doesn't have a back.  Not sure if he could use it or not, doubtful.

    • Wow, those are really expensive though. The one I looked at started at $979, and then additional options ranged anywhere from $49-$269... that would cost more than an electric scooter

    • Are you talking about something to use in a hotel room shower?  If so, why not make is simple and just use a simple plank of wood .  It only needs to me about 2.5 feet long and stretch across the tub.  About 12 inches wide. Total cost about 10 bucks.... and that's high. Hell you can pick one up at any Home Depot.

Or a simple folding camping chair that would fit in the tub?  Worst case,  a milk crate.

BTW, if you have and accessible room,  the hotel should be able to provide one.
