    • Hi to everyone.   My name is Donald and I just now joined disaboom.  I suffer from depression and have had a lifelong problem with anxiety disorders.  I don't know where to begin here, so any help is appreciated.  I haven't been able to work for the last 3 years or so and I don't know what to do anymore.  I don't have a question, yet, but any feedback or questions you may have for me would be great.

    • Hi Donald,

Are you on any anxiety medication or seeing a doctor that can perscribe something? That should be your first step.

I still suffer from depression off and on. I had a three months bout of it this past autumn. My doctor upped me doseage of medication and today I feel really good. A number of years ago, I had agoraphobia for three years. After seeing  a psychologist in nine visits, the symtoms were  gone. As with many people with cerebral palsy, I tend to have a low self-esteem which leads to depresssion.

All I can say is  take care of yourself.

    • I suffered for many years from anxiety and depression.  Agoraphobia, wow a blast from the past.  I was so afraid of leaving my house I didn't go out for almost 3yrs.  I won't say it was easy but I am now a productive happy person.  It took a lot of therapy and a whole lot of looking at myself from the inside ou.  Facing all those fears for me  was the beginning of a new me.  I had to stop blaming and start accepting.  Learning to love one self is the first step towards happiness, easier said than done but worth it LOL..  Never giving up is key.  When I stepped out those doors for the first time I was so frightened but yet I felt so free.  Anxiety was no longer in charge I was..
