    • I received this e-mail from a girlfriend today. I was shocked and appalled by what it said about what insurance companies want to do now. I can’t believe what they come up with sometimes to save on money. In the meantime, they are sacrificing patient care. My mother had a lumpectomy almost 16 years ago and needed to stay in the hospital a few days. Can you imagine having a mastectomy on an outpatient basis?

Please follow the link and fill out the form, it’s easy and sends you right to the Lifetime web site. I filled mine out already.

    •  I wqas also appalled, but in talking to others, I've discovered it's not just mastectomies they want to do as an out-patient basis... it's plenty of other procedures as well. When I broke my kneecap some years ago (nasty break too, I took a heck of a header that time) they operated about 11 am, and I was home by four pm. I was still groggy from the antestisia! And it was a general, not a local. I have other "home too soon/lack of proper discharge instructions" stories as well, but this petition pretty much covers how patients are treated every day.
