    • Suicidal tendencies are something I am having to deal with a lot because of the pain I am going throught it feels as though I am going to die anyway. The only thing stopping me killing myself is the effect it would have on others. I have been having ravishing testicular pain and when it decides to come on there seams to be no other treatment for it other than there removal. Please advise me what to do as I am in a situation where no one seems to know what to do. I just wont them removed but people around me seem to think this is a bad idea.

And here I thought I was being a big whiney brat with my pain!

My doctor doesn't though.  I would tell her that maybe I am a drug seeker, so she sent me to a Pain Specialist, and he told me I wasn't.  I doubted myself, because I thought all the pains were so wierd, they culd not possibly be real.

So, Doc Gittle tells me, that most docs think that just because you don't have cancer, they feel you don't need pain meds.  People have chronic pain..period.  What ever it is from, it should be treated just like the creams you have to put on the rashes, or the insulin you take for the diabetes.

But, what about addiction?  Why should you care, if it improves your quality of life, Doc Gittle asked me.

But, I will be out of it all the time.

No, you will adjust and the meds out there, the time released ones, keep you from getting "high".

So, as desperate as I was I tried it.  It is called "Kadian".  A time released Morphine.

I had so much relief...I thought for sure I was cured, and damn...no high!  Just kiddding.  Not once has it made me groogy or dizzy, etc.  But, it helps me SO much.

They gave me Neurontin, but, that is or was created as a Antidepressant and can cause suicidal idiations and there are class action lawsuites going on right now because folks are committing suicide on them.  I had my suicide all planned out and got help at the last moment, thank the lord. It is NOT a pain killer for nerve pain!!!!!

I think the thing is to find a doctor to help you with your pain control.  If they are not willing...find another.  Some doctors think that being addicted is worse then living with such horrible pain to where you do kill yourself.  That is just stupid.

Actually, there are times where I can go a week or so without even having to take the meds...depends on the pain level...sometimes I have to take more and then other drugs for break through pain.  But, I know that I don't do it for the "high" and can go several days without and not have any DT's.

Check into it...it is worth your life and the quality of it.

PS...I do not take enough to completely be pain free...I must love torchure!  No...I do it to know that it is still there and so I do not have to keep increasing my meds.  Kadian, though it is just morphine...costs $2500 a month.  Go figure!

    • I hate to think I killed this thread!

Pain management is crucial to your quality of life and I hope you don't think I dismissed it or tried to promote being a drug addict.

There are drugs out there that even the Neurologists give you that can cause depression and even suicidal ideations.

Check your meds and look them up on the internet to find out if you are actually on the right ones to help you and help with your chronic pain.  What works for one person, will kill another.  So, you have to do your research, and talk to other doctors and pain specialists.

I have empathy for your post since I lived this for years before I finally got some good help.  It took many doctors to find one that knew how to help me.  I hope you can find someone that will be able to help you also.
