I read an article dated last year some time that in Switzerland, or in one of the countries of northern Europe, the government pays for individuals with disabilities to use escort services at government expense. Advocates proclaim that this service is necessary for individuals with disabilities to experience a part of life that is common to all. That because of their physical impairments, sometimes physical intimacy or gratification is remote at best. A doctor must sign off I believe in order for a patient to receive services. The escort service is regulated by the government. I do not remember any more from the articlebut I thought it would provide an interesting discussion.
I forgot all about this article but after reading some of the e-mails and blogs this story came to mind.
I wanted to know what everyone here thinks about a government providing this kind of service for individuals with disabilities. Would any of you take part and would you scorn those who did take advantage of this service? Or would you blame the government for providing this kind of service?
Sorry, but I don't think that would work well, here in the USA.
We get screwed enough by our government every day.
Can you imagine the verbal abuse my doctor would give me, if I were ever to ask her for a prescription for that?

I don't need it. I've got a legal prostitute (I live in Nevada) that I see on a pretty regular basis. I pay her extra, and have trained her to act as if we weree married, each time I go to visit her. When I walk in the door, she screams profanities at me. When we have sex she never tells me she loves me. And, when we are "doing" it, she complains about us never going anywhere, that she wants a new pick-up, and why I won't let her buy a new dress? When I get ready to leave the room, she reminds me to leave some money on the dresser, and when I stop at the convenience store to gas up and get a sandwich, on the way out of town, I find out she stole 20 bucks out of my wallet when I wasn't watching.
Yup, those folks in Switzerland really got a great sense of humor.
(You realize I am sharing my daily joke with you, don't you?)

The service is mostly provided in Holland, but i think other countries are at least thinking about it.
Seeing the responses so far I too am sure it wouldn't work in America.
But in Holland it is really seen as very beneficial. It's mostly for folks in nursing homes who just have no means (financial and otherwise) to enlist a prostitute.
The experience has been very positive so far. (I'm sure this sentence doesn't express what I mean. But well...)
The disableds feel a lot better, and are less aggressive too.
P.S., don't let the Swiss know you put them into northern Europe.

But, you have one saving grace. She can never say no, claim that she's tired and you live in separate residences.
I forgot, you can deduct from your taxes as a medical expense.

The cops finally stopped the fight.

As the daughter is being dragged away by the police, she screams!

But you know that the Government Employees Union wouldn't allow that in the US. They would all have to be government employed Sex Workers. And with all the employment laws, you couldn't fire one of them for being fat or unattractive.
