my 16 yr. old daughter is a surviver of tbi, wheelchair bound and slightly L.D. i'm trying to find a high school any where in the u.s. that caters to her many needs. all suggestions are welcomed and appreciated
while i dont know what tbi is i am well aware that no matter what your daughters conditions the school system is rquired by law to meet all her needs. however if she is considered to medically fragile they should make aranments for a teacher to come to your home as well as her therapies. my son is 3 with global developmental delays and they do not know the causes . as i had a normal pregnancy and delivery was good. they do think one of two things and this is the only thing they are certian of. that is that whatever happened to my son happened either during development in my tummy or soon after he was deliverd. i encourage you to contineue to get your daughter the care she needs to attend school and fight for her right to be in school with other children should she not be so medically fragile that she can not attend a school. i live in nc by the way. please feel free to email me here at disaboom and i will be glad to help the best i can.
herdad, where do you live in the US? I am sure that one of our members will be able to lend some advice and information. Thanks!
You could also call the Brain Injury Association of America's national helpline (800)444-5443 or call your state Brain Injury Association.
