    • I got my test socket yesterday. I missed walking. With this new amputation it does feel different but it's not as bad as some of my trans femoral friends made it out to be. The socket is much higher because I now take weight though the bones in my backside. It's really not that bad, except when I got up this morning I was a little tender. I'm sure all that will go away when I get walking more. Because the socket is so high on my leg it causes a bit of chafing. Any ideas on how to deal with that. Any thing I can do to strengthen those muscles in the upper thigh. I think I may have pulled a muscle today and i don't want to make a habit of it. I'm also using an iceross or icecross liner by ossur. It uses a spray lubricant to help it slide in the socket. Should I carry some in my purse just in case my leg slips off. Or can you get it in with out the lubricant?

    •  All I've ever worn is total contact hard suction sockets.  The one I'm wearing now is an ischial containment, NSNA socket, and I got a good fit.  No problems once you get used to it.  If you get a good fit, you may find that your thigh muscles will bulk up a bit from working more.  Personally, I think that's a good thing, it gives better control.

I've never used the Iceross, but that's because my stump is too long for most knee units, and the shuttle on an Iceross adds too much length.  If you're worried about it, it probably won't hurt to carry some lube to be able to put the leg back on.

    • You can sit on the bench and watch, or you can play. I'd rather play.
