Did anyone see the 30 Days episode on FX last night? Ray Crockett, a former NFL cornerback with two super bowl wins lived in a wheelchair for 30 days. It was great!

By the way, if you haven't already be sure to read Liesl's superb blog post about 30 Days...
Thanks, Tim!
I missed this episode. I will definitely check the schedule for this to come up again. I hope it educates some ignorant ABs out there. Thanks for sharing and for the informative blog Liesl!
Becky
It is on tonight at 11pm.
Thanks, Becky! I've thought a lot about the episode since I watched it and I still think it's a really good one. Though, I had forgotten about Spurlock's comments about "retarded kids who wear helmets" a year ago. *sigh*

You are quite welcome! He actually said that? What a creep. Maybe he's trying to make up for it now, with the wheelchair show. Doubt it though.
I missed it tonight. I'll keep an eye out for it!
Ya know, I'm willing to allow for a mistake. I mean, if he had a habit of acting this way then I wouldn't be so forgiving, but I am hoping he learned from the experience. Hell, when I first started hearing that the word retarded was offensive I thought it was silly. It wasn't until I really thought about it and realized the reasoning behind it was sound that I, well, that I what? I don't know! I never used it, actually. lol Anyway, I think Spurlock is a good guy who made a mistake. I don't know anyone who doesn't make mistakes. Except me.

Yeah, I hope so too. Hey! I don't make mistakes either! LOL.
hi liesl, i didn't see it, i hope to catch it on again.
Hey Liesl! I got to catch a re-run of the show and I totally agree-it was great! Isn't it funny how we watch these things with a little apprehension/worry (at least I do) because we hope they'll be done well but know that they often go horribly wrong! I really felt like this was an open honest look at everyday challenges for many of us. I'm also almost always against the whole "try a wheelchair" experiment but I think I realized that my main problem with that social game is that it's usually done for a couple spins around a gym or at most a day (I've heard of one groupt that did a week but it wasn't really enforced). That's not enough time...Using a wheelchair for a full month AND participating in some activities that many of us do is a much better look into our worl..
Awesome show and thanks for bringing up the conversation here.
Hm, I can absolutely say nothing about that show, but in general, like Kara, I don't really like these experiments.
(It's just a tad too much of "living among the savages". Like we are so mindbogglingly different and strange.)
I have yet to see one of those experiments (-alone that word!), where the subject doesn't point limelight on the simplest everyday tasks, with breathless exasperation that it is simply unbelievable that disabled people manage to get into a car and even stow away the chair without any help!
It is no help at all to blare all across the TV nation that actually there is no way for us to get along.
But again, I haven't seen the show in question.
