Hi Brodie,
I'm not American, so I can't help You with Your question.
And that is also why I'm not gonna comment on this situation.
I just keep my fingers crossed that You can get things sorted out, and of course find justice.
Welcome to Disaboom. I'm sure others here can be of more help.

What part of the country are you from? Is the hospital a "for-profit" organization? You should definitely be able to find representation. I would contact the local State Bar Association for help. If that doesn't work, then contact the media and find someone who will take-on your cause and publicize it. If that fails, then try contacting whatever medical organization supports your type of epilepsy ... be their "poster child" (admittedly, a big child) for the abuse you endured and someone there should be able to represent you (i.e. speak for ALL who have your type of seizure condition). I wish I could be of more direct help. These are the ideas that immediately came to mind - I sure hope one of them moves you forward. YOU DESERVE REAL JUSTICE - DON'T ACCEPT THIS. WE ARE A SOCIETY BUILT UPON THE RULE OF LAW. Those pillars are there for you too, not just celebrities and big-shots. Good luck! Chris Traynor, Wayne, New Jersey

If I understand you post correctly, this happened in Philadelphia. My advice would be that you contact the local office for The American Civil Liberties Union. If the feel you have a viable case, they will provide you with representation. Further, fine out if the the hospital you went is JACCO certified. In this day and age, most hospitals are. JACCO would investigate this I am sure and have something to say. Also there must be a regulatory body in your state that monitors police activity, and misconduct. The last thing you may want to try is contacting the Attorney General's Office in your state, or the Inspector General's office sometimes they have the authority to investigate professional misconduct.
Injustices happen to disabled people all the time, and it is a sad thing. What makes it sadder still, is those people who are disabled and can not speak or stick up for themselves, so I want to wish you luck. I know you are very angry and that you were put in great danger and I hope you get somewhere with this.

I got an attorney but that was because what happened to me was considered a malpractice suit. You might have to start with something like that. The emergency room called security and then because they didn't understand what was happening you ended up in a jail with NO MEDICINE. In other words the hospital started all this garbadge that you went through and if you start the suit this way the police dept. would get involved. I got Herpes Simplex from the hospital that I always use because they put me in a room with a contagious patient. I have virtually no immune system and they did that. Hence I got worse and can file a malpratice suit. You almost lost your life and if you got worse from what happened - even almost died from what happened - this is probably the route you have to take. The hospital can't refuse to treat you no matter what happens. I think if you call stating a possible malpractice suite you will accomplish what you want. Hope this helps. Keep fighting and it will happen.
