    • I was diagnosed with PPMS in 2003.  I suffer with depression and my doctor put me on Zoloft about 4 months ago and I have gained 10 lbs.  Is there anyone else out there who experienced weight gain with this drug?

    • Hi Sandra I have not taken Zoloft,,,,,,,but have been on others that are considered in the same class. Weight gain is one of the side effects.......however.....that does not mean that everybody who takes it.....will gain weight...........I'm sure you already know this.........but eating more than usual is a sign of depression........as is not eating enough. To further complicate things........as you pull out of depression.......you can regain a lost appetite.........thereby gaining more. So........best of luck to you........with both you depression........and controlling your weight. Peace and love.....Norma

    • Hi Sandra, I am on an anti-depressant also. Not Zoloft, but it is called Amitriptyline. I am on that and an arthritis pill and also a non-narcotic pain pill and they all make a person gain weight. In the last 10 months I have gained 40 pounds. I hate it!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish it was only 10 pounds. LOL!!!  That would be alot easier to lose, but at my age weight is hard to lose. Norma is right the pills can do it and also being less depressed can do it also. I must be both at least I look like. LOL!!!!! It really isn't funny but I have to laugh instead of cry about it, because I see me everyday. Take Care Now, Sandy
