Hi everyone. I thought of this discussion topic earlier today and i decided to run with it.
Under this subject i want to know if in the next 7 days you have got a appointment, event, life changing opportunity. What have you got planned in the next 7 days which may have a good or bad outcome. It could be test results, maybe your going out in your chair for the first time or to a friends wedding. I am hoping this discussion will run and run as another 7 days turn over a week on.
Do not just post here once with what is happening but visit again as developments unfold and update me and the community because we do care and want to be there for you whatever happens.
Im gonna kick things off, 7 days from now i will of met with a Housing Officer for the first time. This comes from a self referral because i feel i need some support just now. I been in a wheelchair for nearly a month now and i just feel things are getting on top of me and i will welcome the extra support. I pray that it helps.
Also on Friday i see my Mental Health Consultant. I am thinking of asking for an increase in medication as i feel very depressed. I have sufferred from depression since 2002 but i feel things are getting worse at the moment. Although my new problem is a physical one i do feel it is having an effect on my mental health.
With those two items happening with 7 days from now, what will i be posting next Sunday?
Please post what is happenning with you and i will update you with my situation as it happens xx
very cool thread idea Chris!
In the next seven days I will:
BEST OF LUCK TO YOU ! TOMORROW MY DAUGHTER IS HAVING A LUMP REMOVED FROM HER BREAST, SO I WILL BE AT THE HOSPITAL WITH HER AND SAYING ALOT OF PRAYERS ! THE REST OF THE WEEK I WILL COOK . SO SHE CAN GET MORE REST ! YES I SPOIL THEM , THAT'S WHAT MOTHERS DO BEST .............. TAKE CARE RAINEY XO
This coming week I will have kindey tests and evaluation. Then demo a second power chair and make a decision on preference. Also, be fitted with thigh bolsters for the new power chair. Busy couple of days for me and wife.
What a great idea for a thread! Let's see... seven days from now I will have started my ethics class for the summer. I may also have a rheumatologist appointment and that almost always brings some weird news, but that's about all for me.

Hey Chris,
You are a clever old dog! This is a great idea. I will be looking forward to hearing everyone's progress and will pray for you all. Well, in the next seven days I have an appt with the surgeon that amputated my leg, bka. I had my amputation on June 23rd and I have fallen twice. I landed both times right square on the bottom of my stump. It is so sore! I'm anxious and nervous that I broke something or screwed up my chance for a prosthesis. That is what I have planned, the rest of the time, I will keep my deriere planted in my chair with my stump (his name is Steve) elevated.............and pray!
Peace, Linda

I've pondered and pondered skydiving...maybe one of these days
Hey Chris! Great post. In the next seven days, it will be my youngest son's birthday. Connor will be 17 on July 10th. Hard to believe he is that old already. I don't know what we'll be doing, probably going out to eat and having family over for cake and coffee. I will be spending the rest of the week lost in the world of student loan research and scholarship applications. Good luck with your appointments!
Rainey, I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. Please keep us posted.
Becky
Hi again Norma
I spoke to a Local Mental Health charity yesterday and they said the same as you. Just tell my consultant what has been happening with me and my concerns and a medication review should not be a issue.
As for the Housing Officer, that answer is not quite as straight forward. My local council (government body) runs a scheme called Lifeways. This initiative runs schemes in the community for vunerable, disabled and life challenged people. They provide Sheltered Housing, Supported Housing and Floating Support. I had an assessment with this team 3 weeks ago (even before i was in the chair), i referred myself as i felt i needed extra support with everything that was going on.
Two ladies came to my home and assessed my needs and support requirements. They could see i was very anxious, unsettled and in need of support. They felt that there were other organisations out there that i could benefit from moreso than the support they could give me. I was asked if it was okay to pass my details to other agencies, i agreed. The housing officer who is coming this afternoon is from Lifeways and will give limited support whilst these other agencies assess me and put there support team into action for me. As i say, not a one word answer at all lol
Take care x
