I happen to fall in the group that has no resources available, I've discovered. There are funds available to adult retarded citizens and the elderly. But ages 40 - 60 years lod are out of luck.
I'm on medicaid and can't get any rehab care.i HAVE PAID INTO THE SYSTEM FOR YEARS,yet when I need medical care, where's my help?? I've gone as far a conventional medicine can take me. I now pay out of pocket for alternative care, which is hard living on disabillity.i'Mm LOOKING FOR RANTS to help me continue. I was paralyzed on my left side,lost vision on the left side of both eyes.I have learned to compansate for vision loss, I've lesrned to walk with cane, and no can ride an adapted 3 wheeled recumbant bike. I have found a great therapist who has gotten me this far. If I can get in for 3 sessions a week, I'll be walking on my own in six months!God is carrying me through. I'm not giving up, no matter how many walls I run into.

Been there, done that. See my post here. I understand about that gap. Exactly what a social worker told me once. The gap involves many situations; not just your's and mine. You and I and a whole lot of other folks are in no-man's land.
Looking forward to more discussion on this topic from other Disaboomers as well.
