About Me

Happily married for 25 years to the love of my life; we have three wonderful children, all grown. I've tried very hard not to allow my disabilities to define me or rule my life, although at times I cannot help but give in to them. Ten years ago I suffered a L-5/S-1 incomplete spinal cord injury. The doctors thought I would be a quad but through the graces, determination and shear will, I am now termed a "uni-plegic". Within a year of my SCI I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Myofacial/Chronic Pain. I also have several auto-immune diseases...Hashimoto's, Chronic Fatigue, Lupus, Lichen Sclerosis, Reynolds Syndrome, and Asthma...to name a few. Migraines (occipital neuralgia), PTSD, Hypoglycemia, Hyper mobility and Spinal Arthritis, and Essential Tremors are also part of my life. I've had well over 25 surgeries and am allergic to a host of medications. When I do need to take medications, in most cases I have to take a child's dose because I am so highly sensitive. Yes, I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired...YET, I RARELY get depressed or let it all get to me. I am a very up beat, full of fight kind of person. Although, I do have my moments like when I'm in a flare and can't seem to get relief.
