About Me

I've lived in South Carolina all my life. I like who I am. Life has never failed to be interesting to me. I love my wife, now deceased, and our two children and one grandchild. Some of the most important things to me that I have learned by "doing life" are these: I am not always right and that is ok with me. I do not know and in my lifetime am not likely to have all the answers. A good friend is immeasurably more important than money. Success in life does not depend on how much money you have or on the things you can do or have done. It does not depend on whether or not you posess physical beauty. I have come to believe success can only be measured by the way you handle the things in your life that you have the ability to affect. I have learned it does me no good whatsoever to compare myself in any way with other people. I am unique in all humanity. I will celebrate that in myself and recognize and appreciate that in all other people as best as I can. Life is not fair. Life is not necessarily easy or pain-free. Each day has in itself the potential for good or bad, therefore, I will not worry about the future or regret the past. For the most part, it is in my power to decide each day whether I will make the most of it or to complain about it. I choose the former. My handicap does not define me. It only serves to refocus my attention to certain details. If forces me to find creative ways to use the resources I have in a more productive manner.
