About Me

Hello, My name is Amy and I am 20yrs old, and I have been diagnosed with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. My son also has it but his is Congenital Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. I found out after giving birth to my son that I had this Muscle dystrophy. I was adopted so we parents did not have any information on my birth parents having any Muscle Dysrophies. It was quite a shock to learn and take in everything that people were telling me about MMD!I learned about it for the 2 months I was in NICU with my baby!! He was born at 32 weeks so I had a lot of time to absorb as best as I could what was going on and what would go on in our lives! My son and I take it day by day and so far were doing okay!
