Stavros is a large center for independent living in western Massachusetts, it started in 1974, making Stavros one of the oldest CILs in the country. I am the Systems Advocate there--this means I pay attention to and/or participate in local, state and federal disability legislation, policy, trends and needs and try to keep the other people in my department informed on these issues. I also maintain our company website (www.stavros.org) in my "spare" time (that's why it's not always up-to -date.) The youngest of our 3 children just graduated from UMass in June of 2007, and I am still paying on the loans I took out for my MS in Management I received from Antioch New England in 1999. I am a fanatic gardener (organic) and small-time goat rancher. We have a cat and an insane Airedale Terrier to keep us company. I lost my job due to disabilities in 1996; I started working part-time at my local CIL in 1999 and (for the past 7 years) now work full-time. Like: sick and twisted humor; walking with my dog and others; reading & floating on our pond in hot weather, snowshoeing in the cold; really bad puns... Dislikes: George W Bush, purposeful misspellings (i.e. "donut" and "lite"), slackers, mayonnaise...
Interests: organic gardening, Boer goats, hiking, reading
