About Me

I'm a wannabe scholar-activist interested in the in the intersection of disability rights and biomedical ethics. That is, I read, write, and think a lot about how people's concepts about disability impact the institution and practice of medicine. Eventually, I hope to get paid to do this as philosophy professor specializing in "the disability rights critique" of bioethics. For now, I am in my first of 5 years of "Philosophy PhD School." That means I live in a dorm room the size of a typical 25 year old man's closet (I even store stuff in the bathroom) and spend most of my time getting hopped up on energy drinks and going in search of that "perfect spot" in the library. I do make an effort to not be too isolated to the ivory tower though. I am really into justice issues surrounding disability more broadly and see it as a lifestyle akin to something like being a radical feminist, rather than a mere academic interest or political ideology. So, my world-view may be a bit different than most people's to say the least. I like being around people who laugh loudly and think openly. My leisure activities include: listening to live music, eating good food, ranting to my friends about politics, consuming unreasonable amounts of caffeine, and embarrassing myself in exceedingly public places – sometimes all simultaneously.
