Where do I start? I am 48 years old and experienced a lot of life before my accident in July of 2005. Life changed at that point and now I deal with a SCI. I think of it as a re-birth. I broke my neck doing something I loved, mountain biking, with some one I loved, my son. I ended up with a complete injury at the C-6 level. Now every day is a struggle for independence and learning to deal with my circumstances. I am married with two children. My daughter is 15 and my son just turned 19. I love anything to do with the outdoors. I still ride a bike just have to propel it with my arms. I am not as fast either. With out triceps I can really crawl up the hills. It is all relative though and what I find important is just being outside. Winter is a little harder. I don't like the cold any more but deal with it. I can always get in my pick-up, crank up the heat, and tour around the community and visit friends. Life goes on and you have to make the best of it. Whining never helped anybody!
