I have limb-girdle muscular dystrophy and had a sister five years older who also had the disease. She passed away in December, 2007 due to the pulmonary complications of the disease. I have been married for 10 years and am still walking and enjoying life. I have no children but have two dogs, a 9 year-old yellow labrador retriever and a 7 year-old basset hound mix. I work full time as a systems analyst and primarily spend my time at work testing clinical software. My educational background is Journalism, and for the first 9 years after graduating from college, I was a technical writer. I changed my job nearly two years ago to broaden my horizons and expand my software usability and quality assurance skills. I hope to meet others who also have muscular dystrophy and let them know that this disease does not have to limit your life from being fulfilling, productive and enjoyable. I see my disease as an inconvenience and not "the end of the world" or a reason to give up hope.
