Well.....what can one say? ID / Name: idaredevil [Mike] Location: La Crosse, WI. Military Veteran: Yes Spinal Cord Injury: T-5 Complete When: 02.02.2002 What Happened [How]: Snowmobile Accident! Got a good bit too up-close-&-personal with an oak tree @ triple digit speed. Flew 130+ feet thru the air & was still 4 feet off the ground @ impact. Why: 'Cause I could! [The speed thang!!!....Not the big flight or hittin' the tree.] ---------------------------------------------- Well.......just found out about this site a couple days ago. Surfed around a bit & have read & seen some pretty cool member bios & have decided to sit here for a bit. I also hope to exchange info & learn from those of you in the know. GEEZ......I'm really bad @ this part. Dunno what to say. I've been in a chair since 02.02.2002, though still a short timer in a chair in light of many others. I've been told thru the yrs that I'm somewhat of a freak of nature when considering how many people I have known for many yrs that are in w/chairs. Only a couple are because of disease. All others are due to SCI. Due to the info I've been told, stats show only about 250k SCI/D people nation wide. A relative low number on a national basis. More Later. It's been said that OVER 80% of American citizens don't personally know even a single person who is restricted to a wheelchair. I on the other hand have known quite a number of them thru the yrs. Off the top of my head I can think of 6 that I knew BeFore I got my custom ride. I must be a bit of a freak knowing that many ppl in chairs. Know a bunch more now!.
